Excellent service from the moment we arrived. Emma & Ellie were exceptionally grlof and very cheerful. All food was excellent & we all had different. Would definitely recommend the mini pudding & hot drink afterwards.

Called in on a Saturday lunchtime a few weeks ago to meet family from Stoke who were travelling on further North. Our son had booked a table for 5 just to be on the safe side. Lovely friendly staff, great old world Tavern and Atmosphere plus real log fire made it perfect on a cold damp day. Food and drink were really lovely quality and although we didn’t stay very long due to travelling on we didn’t wait long for our meal which we all enjoyed even one of our grandsons Who’s a typical fussy eater. Also as I’m driving I only drink zero alcohol beer and they have several which was great. We had the steak sandwiches, fish finger sandwich, Cumberland sausage meal and macaroni cheese meal for our grandson. Nothing was left which is a good sign. We will definitely be calling again as we are hoping to move into the area in the near future and will be very fortunate to have such a stunning pub nearby. Thanks to everyone at the Pickering Arms.

Stumbled across the Pickering Arms through Google reviews and thought this seems a nice place to try for lunch. What a fantastic choice to come here, a real cosy vibe, amazing food and great service from Gillian. All at a cheaper price than I was expecting. 100% will be returning and bringing the family along too!

Ate off the lunch menu. I appreciate that portion size will be slightly reduced, however it should be bigger than a child's portion. Serving a meal on a side plate to make it look bigger doesn't count. The pub itself is lovely, I'll certainly return for drinks.

Visited on a quiet Sunday for lunch. We were seated right by the fire which was very welcomed with the weather being particularly cold. We were served by Georgia who was very attentive throughout. The pork sunday lunch was fantastic, gravy and the creamy leeks made it. Great price for the portions.

Two of us had lunch today after seeing YouTube and reviews. We’re locals. I had haddock and chips and friend had ale pie. We won’t go again. It’s end of March (23) no heating on at 12.00pm. Place was cold. Dog barked, Haddock was old and batter greasy and soggy. Left half of my meal. Salt pot empty vinegar jar empty. The ale pie had huge soggy crust and little filling. Coffee was cold and though coffee was flavoursome it was not hot enough. We were warned by our hairdresser that it was poor but thought we’d try it. It was Β£35 ish wasted. How hard is it to serve fish and chips and steak pie? Buy fresh fish. Have hot oil. Don’t have greasy batter and let the fish do the talking!! Really dissatisfied. Don’t go. Don’t go to the Little manor either, food in Thelwall awful. Waste of money. Raise your standards people and demand more!! Anne

Booked the restaurant for mothers 91st Birthday last Wednesday and 30 relatives, we were not disappointed as everyone enjoyed their meals, we ate from the supper club menu with a Β£10 discount on a bottle of wine. Great service and hot tasty food. Highly recommended. Ian.

Nice pub and the people seemed very nice. The menu seems good but I think it's a little expensive for what you get. The service is not in line with the price of the meals

Stopped here on a whim. Very old, brilliant oldy worldy pub. Massive meals, excellent quality PUB food. Very busy, lots of locals, dog friendly. It's not find dining, it's just a great pub to have lunch or a drink in.
