As first-time parents, we were very anxious about placing our daughter into nursery care. However, our initial experience at this nursery was really positive — during the walk-around and settling-in sessions, the staff made us feel welcome and reassured. Our little girl bonded quickly with her key worker, and we felt comforted that she had settled in so well. Unfortunately, this changed dramatically. One day while at work, we received a series of notifications from the nursery app stating that several staff members was leaving — all on the same day. Naturally, this raised huge concerns for us as parents. When we asked for an explanation, we were told vaguely that it was due to issues with management/ownership. The area manager did not address our questions and appeared to avoid engaging with parents’ concerns entirely. Feeling uneasy, we made the difficult decision to withdraw our daughter from the nursery. We’re extremely relieved we did, especially after reading the most recent Ofsted report, which rated the nursery as inadequate. The report noted that staff failed to interact meaningfully with children, choosing instead to speak with each other or wander around. We hope this review helps other parents make informed choices. Every child deserves consistent, responsive, and safe care — and unfortunately, this nursery no longer meets those standards.

I am sad to share such a negative review about what seemed a brilliant nursery. My daughter attended for only 3 months, but in that time the girls who looked after her were amazing and I cannot fault them. However, the higher management team are an absolute shambles and have destroyed the nursery. They were allowing unqualified staff to replace qualified staff, some of who did not speak English and the area manager actually confirmed if a child was to choke the unqualified staff wouldn’t know how to contact 999. Many children including mine have been removed from the nursery due to poor communication from the management. Unfortunately the management won’t change and therefore the nursery won’t change.

Absolutely appalling – avoid at all costs. I made the difficult decision to remove my son from this nursery with immediate effect due to extremely concerning safeguarding issues. Every trusted and experienced member of staff handed in their notice, and it quickly became clear why. The setting allowed individuals to work around the children who had not yet passed DBS checks, were unqualified, and had only recently arrived in the UK – with little to no English or understanding of early years practice. When parents raised concerns, responses were vague, dismissive, or simply ignored. I received no proper communication from management during or after withdrawing my son – I was simply removed from the app with no explanation, apology, or acknowledgment from the area manager or owner. The glowing reviews currently listed reflect the hard-working and dedicated staff who have since left, many doing so to protect the children in their care. Since their departure, standards have plummeted and it has become a completely unsafe and unregulated environment. On one recent visit, only one unqualified member of staff was seen supervising children alone – a clear breach of safeguarding regulations. This nursery is now a shambles and, frankly, should not be allowed to continue operating. Please protect your children and think very carefully before considering this setting. Safeguarding must always come first – sadly, it clearly doesn’t here.

My children have been with little acorns for 2 years, it was a fantastic nursery because of the ladies that work there who are unfortunately leaving. This is due to a new management that took over recently, since then there has been a massive change in nursery and how it is being ran, I am pulling my children out at the end of may. I would not recommend this nursery unless it has different management and ownership. The girls that are leaving are amazing, have always been amazing and will always be amazing, I wish them luck in their new jobs as they deserve to be treated so much better.
