No phones, no vaping, no laptops and no swearing is a perfect mix for the authentic old school boozer. Makes a refreshing change. Congratulations on having the bottle to implement this policy, it results in a great atmosphere. Oh and 2 pints for £7.50 was an amazing surprise.

Lovely old pub, low beamed ceiling. No stupid music and no TVs, just the hum of conversation. Sign on the door saying no phones so you know before you go in. Dimly lit, comfy seats and a lovely 'snug' bar at the back. Only Smiths beers on tap, the good stuff. £3.40 a pint of bitter. It's like a time capsule, my only regret was not finding it until my last night. Highly recommended.

Brilliant proper old style pub. Very good pint, friendly staff. It's a digital detox zone so no phones, laptops or tablets allowed to be used and no swearing. Very refreshing pub

Everything a British pub should be. Homely and inviting. A picture paints a thousand words. This is somewhere you go to ponder life on your own or have great chat with friends. They intentionally don't play music and they don't offer WiFi.

What a treat and a rarity to go tradional boozer and be reminded that antisocial behaviour is so passe. You are kindly reminded not to swear or use technology, for some of our party this was challenging to say the least, personallybi found it refreshing. Swear jar on the counter wouldn't go a miss! though, just in case, be nice for a local charity!!

Whilst in Chester for a random night I was looking for a traditional real ale pub to have a quiet pint in, even though I am a predominantly a larger drinker, as I wanted the quite ambience of this type of pub. Whilst walking down the high street and googling pubs near me, I came across this place and wow, what a gem! It’s a Sam Smith’s pub and as such a little quirky, no mobile usage allowed whilst in (although not vigorously enforced whilst I was in there, the occasional check is fine, but I suspect if sat there googling you would be told off) and also signs to say swearing not allowed! The whole ambience was lovely, old-world pub, quiet and full of like-minded people. I have to say I am not a fan of Sam Smiths larger, but the ambience of this place made up for it. I would highly recommend a stop in this place, I really enjoyed an hour in there! The chap behind the bar was friendly but unintrusive as well.

Love it. Always visit when in Chester. Fantastic old place. Sam Smiths drinks . More expensive than pre covid but still good value. Remember Sam Smiths rules if you go in. Can't believe people still say they're not aware of them. Good beer. Nice staff. Great interior.

Proper pub, really old, great drinks, cheap, staff are friendly. Greeted at the door and seated us with table service. Perfect place for a nice drink. No phones allowed out so you actually have to talk to people. I've lived in Chester for 10+ years and this has always been my favourite pub but I've not been in for a while. Definitely worth a visit if you're out in Chester.
