Ignore the crime rate and any bad information you may find online - the people here and in the area I'm general are lovely and welcoming. The pubs a delight, the locals a pleasure to be around. Came down on training from Sunderland and couldn't have been more warmly welcomed - thank you, it was a pleasure to visit.
It's a very nice pub, the interior is very nice and there's plenty of seats inside and out. Some of the prices here weren't too bad and the atmosphere was decent.
I am not a local but attend on Mondays with a friend who needs a bit of help. Staff are spot on,friendly,we both miss the pub but made up its reopening soon. A real genuine community pub in my opinion

I’ve been here for a psychic night and the event it self was amazing, but I must say that the attitude and customer service of the landlord was absolutely disgusting. He made me feel very uncomfortable and was demanding payment ahead of the event which was not specified upon arrival as we had already booked ahead of time. Just the mannerisms of the landlord just made me feel like I wouldn’t want to attend an event there again.
Went to a psychic night upstairs, the pub is a nice place, most of the staff were nice, the psychic night was fantastic... the landlord is unprofessional ...sent 2 disabled men from the bar area outside the front door round the building to go upstairs which was at the end of the corridor next to the bar, he was rude, curt and obnoxious what a shame as it spoilt a nice night
Had a party upstairs. Was a boss night. Staff were great. Terrace was a brilliant place to sit out.
