   Been coming here since the seventies. We used to go to concerts in what was Mountford Hall where all the Rock concerts used to be on in the University. This was the place to meet beforehand. It's not changed a lot in the last fifty years. If you get bored you can look at the large collection of beer mats on the ceiling. Does have a very good choice of Real ales. Plenty of benches outside for Summertime. Very handy for the students as it's right in the middle of the University.

   The Augustus John is quite an anachronism in some ways; it has the general architectural feel of an estate pub from the 1970's, but being based in the heart of Liverpool University territory is frequented by a more studentish clientèle (albeit rather elderly ones in some cases) Decently priced beer and a convivial environment. Far enough from the city centre to feel a little off the beaten trail. I can imagine it's a good gathering point for students having a first beer or two before heading into town at the weekend!

   Well run friendly lively place, great selection of drinks (and some food I think). Neat and tidy but amazingly a time capsule in some ways .. seems unchanged in many ways for 20/30years but not a bad thing.

   Very affordable, the jukebox has a nice range of songs (bring a pound coin!). Good cleanliness is kept- the women's bathrooms are nice. Wheelchair Accessible with an outside bit for smoking or sitting. Such a good venue, My only critique would be the closing time, I wish they stayed open later!
