Really good old style pub but with a proper modern outlook. All the sports are on the big TV screens, great ale, excellent atmosphere, easy access. Top drinking establishment.
What a great little pub. First place in our stag night tour and loved the vibe in here.
A CAMRA Good Beer Guide pub. Only 2 real ales on our visit out of 6 handpumps. Paulicarus ordered me a pint of Salopian Gold. Very good. The pub wraps round a large central bar. Shaslic liked the music albeit a little loud for lunchtime
The Excelsior is a traditional street corner pub next to the tunnel entrance. It has a nice contemporary interior. There is a wide choice of beers lager and cider including some excellent hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the pub features in the camra good beer guide.
Serves a good pint! Had at least 8 cask ales when I visited. Nice old pub feel. Spacious. Loads of seating, by the bar as well. Service staff are great, great banter too. Huge bar in the middle of the pub
BEST PUB IN LIVERPOOL! proper pub with a cosy atmosphere. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Also live music on the weekends. And who doesn't a love a pub with a fireplace! Thanks guys. We will be back when we visit next
Great cask ales, great service, and that wood burning stove adds to the ambiance whilst keeping you toasty!

Big, clean pub with friendly staff. There's always a nice vibe in here too and the music through the sound system is always excellent. Have a great selection of stock and guest beers.
The Excelsior used to be a below average student pub. I'm pleased to say it's turned itself around and become a great place to spend a few hours, especially if you like sport. The bar staff are friendly, there's a good selection of ales, lagers & bottled ciders and they've improved the decor as well. It wasn't too busy when I was there but id imagine later in the day or when a local team are playing itd be bouncing.
