I really enjoy my Adult GCSE English Language course. Patti is a wonderful teacher β she is kind, patient, and very supportive. Because of her teaching, I have made real progress, and this lesson was excellent. However, my positive experience is limited only to GCSE English. Sadly, my overall experience at Bury College has been extremely disappointing, particularly regarding SEND support. The SEND tutor has not supported me with external applications or my access needs, despite me clearly explaining that I am struggling. I have repeatedly asked for help, but my concerns have not been listened to or taken seriously. There has been no meaningful effort to help me improve my skills or to provide appropriate adjustments. This lack of support has had a negative impact on my confidence and progress. As a Deaf student, I feel that Bury College lacks Deaf Awareness and does not understand or recognise Deaf peopleβs access needs. There is a clear lack of empathy and appropriate support. From my experience, the college seems far more suitable for hearing students than for Deaf or disabled learners. Because of this, I would strongly advise Deaf students and others with additional needs to think carefully before enrolling at Bury College. In contrast, Hopwood Hall College provides much better support. They help students with external applications, understand individual needs, and actively support progress. The college demonstrates Deaf Awareness, listens to students, and works with them to resolve problems, creating a far more positive and inclusive learning environment. For Deaf, hard-of-hearing, or disabled students, I would strongly recommend choosing Hopwood Hall College instead. Please look after yourself and choose a college that will truly support your education and future.

Went to watch the pantomime put on by college drama students with classes of 4-6 year olds. Everybody had a great time and the students gave an excellent performance.

Such a rude staff and their behaviour. One of the worst college in England. Teachers have No control over students. They don't care about kids future, they just warming their pockets. Awful

I had the pleasure of supporting teachers in lectures across the college as part of their education festival (July 2023). Itβs the third time Iβve had the pleasure of working with staff across the college; they are working really hard to achieve the best outcomes for their students.

The course I took has provided a platform for me to start working, but it definitely needs a revamp. INFASTRUCTURE TECHNICIAN course provides a very basic base for working in the industry, they teach you small amounts of each aspect of the role. Emphasis on customer service, providing a test software for logging calls and a serious update In exams is in dire need. For example, one of the topics covered in the exams is Cloud Computing which is a 50 Mark multiple choice exam with minimal resources to cover this. There are great staff within the IT Services department however, who helped tremendously throughout my stay at the college, Which has to be highlighted. They were let down by 1/2 inadequate teachers who were not up to standard for the course, one left 4 weeks before our final submission and left us in a position where our whole class had to fast track half of the Unit to get it in for deadline day. This was frustrating from a student point of view but undermines the overall experience with the tutors at the college which are generally great. With a big change to the course and more funding to the department this would be a fantastic experience but personally I felt I could of had during my experience. Of course this is a student point of view from one course so this does not display a full display of the college and itβs contents. They should focus more on developing the departments they already contain instead of spending millions on a new building.

The ones complaining, are the ones who are unable to help themselves, and unable to put in the effort. There are so many resources available to help you get through your semester. The ones delivering the lecture can only do so much to help you. They aren't going to baby-sit you in your exams.

The worst college! The teachers say theyβll help you get set up in a career after college they lied. The teachers like to leave mid year and leave the students with new substitutes every week. They donβt care about the learning of the students. If you are thinking about enrolling into bury college, donβt youβll regret it as much as I did.
