Very awfully manager, very ignorant, runs away from the problem, and honestly a little Racist. As when we come into the store zero respect to anyone who is not English. Very horrible manger. Something that we did not do, blames us. Would not give us a refund

Machine Mart: One of the best Tool stores in the country. Very helpful and patient staff, eager to help in any step of the way for purchasing tools and give honest advice to customers benefit. I recently purchased an AIRMASTER COMPRESSOR 14/50p and was very please with the service.

Some of the staff are very helpful and friendly. One in particular seems to watch you like a hawk everywhere you go around the shop as if I am planning a heist making coming to this branch a very uncomfortable experience. I have dealt with him before and he is rude, unhelpful and unprofessional. It's a shame because Machine Mart has been here for a long time but let down by this staff member with no customer skills.

I laughed whilst reading some of the previous reviews....years old in sold cases. Don't let them impact your decision to visit the store. Mick and his team have done a great job helping and advising my business with machinery needs. You can't buy the knowledge they have and its been great to lean on it this week and understand the intricoes of some set-ups I wasn't familiar with around a workshop. Thanks for your help and expertise in delivering solutions to my issues MM Sheffield.

On Sunday 30th December 2018 I attended the Sheffield Machine Mart along with my “VAT Free Day” voucher sent a few weeks previously.  I only made a small purchase; four sets of sash clamps to the value of £124.94 (after discount). The store only had one pair of the two 36” clamp sets I purchased, and I was asked if it was ok for that to be placed on back order for collection during the following week.  I agreed, even though it would involve another trip across the city to collect. Having not heard anything the following week, which to be fair was on 4 days due to New Years Day, I called the store on Monday 7th to enquire.  I was told they were still on backorder and that they would probably be another week. A couple of hours later I received a voicemail informing me that they had indeed arrived on that days delivery and were ready for me to collect.  I drove across the city and collected them. Upon unpacking I found the metal bar handle missing from one of the clamps. I called and spoke to “Neil” who assured me this would be easily rectified as although they didn’t have any 36” clamps in store, he could take the same bar handle from a 72” set as a replacement. I was busy all day Tuesday and couldn’t get to the store, however I had a free 20 minutes on Wednesday before a clinic, so popped in to collect the errand part.  This was now journey number three across the city, and sadly, wasted as Richard “I’m only a Salesman” was unable to find any record of the part being left for me, it was Neil’s day off (he was visiting his dad), and the Manager was in a meeting in the back.  I wondered if this was the same manager who, during my visit on Monday was strolling around the store on his mobile telephone telling of his great relief since he’d handed in his notice. I waited ten minutes and left. Richard had helpfully written down the full details and taken my telephone number assuring me that Neil would call me tomorrow (Thursday 20th January). I asked Richard to make it clear that I was not happy at a wasted trip and further inconvenience. The store closed two minutes ago, and today is Thursday the 10th of January.  I haven’t heard from Neil. What seemed a reasonable opportunity to get some additional sash clamps at a reasonable price has ended up costing me far, far more in my time than I anticipated, not to mention inconvenience, fuel and the environmental impact.  I like to try and give my business to local stores as it maintains local employment, however it would have been so much easier to have ordered these online for delivery to my door. However, if ordering online I guess it would only take a click or two more to find the same product under a different brand, no doubt significantly cheaper from a supplier who doesn’t have the overheads of physical premises.  This is why most high streets are becoming wastelands. I can cope with paying a little more in order to keep local shops open and local people employed, but I’m not happy paying for such poor and dismissive service.  This whole saga, for one little metal clamp handle has become such a bad experience that in future the only visit I will likely make to Machine Mart is to look around at items I shall later purchase online.
