Why reception never solve problems ? They don’t answer phones and when you go there , they just say we will leave a note, which I don’t think they do , because I never received any response since March , and I went to them like 3 times because they were not answering the phone . What is the purpose of hiring them if they are not doing what they supposed to do ? They don’t let you in They don’t do anything to solve your problems. They are just sitting and I don’t know what they do Seriously!!

One of the biggest issues is their phone policy, they take your phone without making this clear before you start. As a business owner, my phone is essential for managing work, and having it taken away has caused unnecessary disruptions. Beyond that, the overall organisation of the college could be much better. There are delays in communication, and the way certain rules are enforced feels inconsistent. Instead of creating a supportive learning environment, it often feels restrictive. I expected a place that prepares students for the real world, especially for those balancing education with business or personal responsibilities

My name is Ahlam, I am 19 years old, and my student number is 1485206. I’m really proud to be in my second year at The Manchester College, Shena Simon Campus. I’m really enjoying my time here. The teachers and staff are so supportive and helpful. I’ve learned a lot and feel more confident every day. It’s a great place to study! Last year, I completed the ESOL (16-18) Entry 3 course with the teacher Mark Gourlay , which helped me build my English skills and confidence. This year, I’m studying Functional Skills English and Maths with the adult group, and I’m really enjoying it. The teachers here are fantastic — my Maths teacher, Maryama Gholami, and my English teacher, Nuzhat Siddique, and my IT Teacher Asif Saleh are all very supportive, kind, and always explain everything clearly. They always take the time to help every student and make sure we all understand the lesson. The staff are else very helpful and friendly. Whenever I need help or have a question, there is always someone there to support me. The college offers so many great facilities, and the learning environment is very comfortable and welcoming. I’ve learned so much since I joined, not just in English and Maths, but also about communication, teamwork, and confidence. I feel really happy and safe here, and I enjoy coming to college every day. The Manchester College has given me a great experience, and I’m very thankful to be part of it. I would definitely recommend this college to anyone who wants to improve their skills and achieve their goals.

I completed a business course at this college a year and a bit ago and, I achieved strong grades, my overall experience was disappointing due to the attitude of the tutors (the woman that is head of business). Academically, the course material was comprehensive, and I was able to succeed despite the lack of meaningful support from the teaching staff. Unfortunately, many of the tutors were dismissive and seemed to have little concern for students beyond their academic performance. When personal issues arose, there was no effort to provide understanding or flexibility, which made the learning environment feel cold and unsupportive. It often felt like the tutors prioritized deadlines over student well-being, which is disheartening, especially given how challenging higher education can be.

I fell far behind because I went for life saving surgery at the start of the year in September. I was kept in the hospital to recover, however despite that I would go on teams every single day and do my coursework to the best of my ability. I struggled with completing the coursework due to not being taught anything so I communicated my struggles with tutors. They would ask me not to message them and instead message somebody else. One tutor claimed that she wasn’t allowed to show me how to do anything over the phone and that I’d have to come in person in order to be helped out. Then when I DID recover and was discharged from hospital, I would come to college in person only to be sat in a classroom with everybody on their laptops completing work. I had repeatedly asked for help because at the point in time, I was EXTREMELY far behind. They tried to justify this with the fact that I was on a fast paced access course they simply had to move onto another topic. If they taught me the missing units, I still wouldn’t have enough time to type up the assignment. I would have understood this completely if they had already taught me something, but they hadn’t. Every time I went into class, they would have everybody pull out their laptops and complete coursework. For the time that I was there, I hadn't been taught anything despite practically begging them to catch me up so I can move on from college to university. In the end, I withdrew from the course so my EHCP funding didn’t go to waste. I’ll be applying to a different course in July and it will not be at this campus. Waste of time and resources.

If i could give less than 1 star i definitely would, it was the worst 3 weeks of my entire life that i’ve studied at this college... the tutors were absolutely not helpful at all, they didn’t motivate the students at all, and didn’t help with any issues i was having at the time; i was dealing with mental health issues and everything i said to them was an ‘excuse’, they even decided to bring my parents into it even though i was 18 at the time, which didn’t make anything better but actually worse... they tried to kick me off my A level course due to my anxiety, and put me on a BTEC course that i didn’t want to do, however when i finally wanted to quit they didn’t want to let me go and ‘arrange’ something to be done, hate this place, do not recommend
