I had a very disappointing experience with this venue and its staff. Firstly, they charge per hour at quite a high rate which includes setup time, regardless of whether your event has started or not. They also charge for kitchen use which has no oven. They was adamant my event needed to finish at 5pm so i spent near enough £300 for a 4 hour children’s party. Please keep this in mind if you are considering booking this centre. From the moment I arrived, the gentleman in charge was not very welcoming or friendly. The hall has speakers, but he had no idea how to operate them, leaving us without music for half of the party. I had to arrange my own sound system, which I could have done earlier if I had known the speakers didn’t work, but was not informed, yet shown any empathy for this interruption. Halfway through the party, this gentleman sat at the reception with a stern look, tapping his watch to remind us we can only have the party on until 5pm. His overall demeanour was intimidating, rude, unhelpful and unprofessional. At around 4:30 he began telling our guests to leave, even though the party was not finished. It was not his place to ask any guests to leave before the agreed time. Additionally, something hired for the event went missing. When we asked to check the CCTV, his rude and blunt reply was “Well that’s going to be one of YOUR LOT then”, and he walked away. Im not quite sure what he meant by “your lot” but i felt this comment was offensive and very discriminatory because in no way did i accuse anyone from the centre of taking anything, I simply asked to go over CCTV incase one of my guests had taken it by accident. We were told we could view CCTV on the following Tuesday. However, when we returned, we were informed that we couldn’t see the footage because the manager wasn’t in. Attempts to call the community centre during the week went unanswered. Overall, my experience from start to finish was poor. I feel I could have found a much better venue and service for the amount I spent. This staff member in particular needs a reminder on how to provide decent customer service and understanding that a community centre serves people from all walks of life, with people who don’t look like him. If he has a problem with that he should look for another job. If your spending your money on a service, you expect at least a smile from the staff, which I didn’t see once. I would not recommend this centre for events at all. Save your money and go elsewhere!

Went to watch a production by CADS, facilities were clean and well looked after. Refreshments were very reasonably priced. If my friend acts again, i will definitely go back.

Boxing Training is on; * Wednesday 1800hrs - 1900hrs * Friday 1800hrs - 1900hrs * Sunday 1000hrs - 1100hrs * £3 per session. The community centre is Sandwell Council owned but run privately.

I was only there for short time at first aid training, only saw one room. Did look like lots goes on there. Plenty of activities on offer for all ages. Wish there was something like this in my city. So well done West Brom. X

Don't be put off by the exterior of the building as this is a lively community centre with parking to the rear. I visit the Community Centre regularly as my group, Charlemont Amateur Dramatics Society rehearses in one of their rooms and performs its productions in the theatre inside. The building is warm and the atmosphere is friendly. There is a small seating area in the entrance hall with toilets and a food and drinks machine as well as a small shop selling refreshments.
