   I came back from a weekend break with a noise coming from the car. The journey was a 3 hour drive and i noticed it just after half way. The noise was metal on metal and I immediately thought it was the brakes so i took my time and tryed not to use the brakes. The mot was due the next month so I immediately put it in to cavendish mot garage and explained to them about the noise it made, and I thought it was the brakes. One hour later I had a txt message to say the car was ready to be picked up. I called the garage straight away and asked if it was the brakes? He said there was plenty of sponge on them. I picked the car up and I noticed the noise was still there with the car! I didn't feel confident then in taking it back to Cavendish mot Motors, so I took it to another garage close by for a second opinion and left it with them. They called to say that the back breaks on my peugeot 2008 was down to metal and was wearing the disc down. I had them done and picked the car up the next day. The garage showed me the worn disc and brakes. I then went back to Cavendish mot garage to explain about the service i had on the car and also my concerns with the discs and that they had missed the back brakes. The guy just didn't seem bothered. I just didn't want them to make the mistake with other people's cars, as this is very dangerous. Me myself will never use Cavendish mot Motors again as I have lost all trust in this garage that I use to hold very highly on their work. Added 28/02/25 Hi, in my first post, the car was not booked into your garage for a service, it was booked for an mot as I explained. So I did pick it up one hour later. It was not a service as you thought I had said the sevice was as in work from another garage. I thought with an mot all brakes are checked front and back of the cars? This is quite concerning if any brakes are missed in any mot standards? So my question is, are you going to change the way you check your brakes for the future? Maybe a wheel off that would take yourselves a couple of minutes to do, be an easier option instead of letting a car on the road that would be dangerous without having good brakes? Question 2, did you take it for a road spin to see if you could hear or feel the brakes on the car? Considering i told you that it was a metal scrapping noise, and the brakes didn't feel right when pressing the paddle? I feel that this mistake could be made with other cars in your garage if some people don't know much about cars. I know my car and if it makes a noise (in this case, very loud noise) I know to get it checked. If the elderly can't hear much what hope have they got by putting there car into your garage for an mot!
