   Urgent repair. 7am. Pitch black. Hit pothole. Nearside tyre kaput. AA took us to KWIKFIT in Edge Lane. 8.30am. Told it would be a few hours, as business was busy. MIRACLE. Vehicle ready at 11.45 am. Chap called SEAN was the man! Polite, pleasant and professional. Spoke in layman’s language, so we could understand all of the procedure. Also, advised us to replace wheel nuts at our next service!! If I had a cap, I would’ve doffed it.

   Here’s what happened today: I arrived right at opening time. Two people were working there. They told me they were “fully booked” and that I should go somewhere else — for a job that takes 15 minutes! Right after opening, one of the employees who arrived on a bicycle didn’t even start working. Instead, during work hours, he went across to the petrol station to get a coffee. Well done, guys.

   Had a flat tyre on my way back to Manchester. Rang Kwik Fit, as I was opposite the garage at the time. Charlie was very busy but went out of his way to help fit a new tyre and get me sorted so I could get home. He was lovely and provided great customer service. Would highly recommend.

   I’ve taken my BMW X1 to Kwik Fit in the past, but after recently servicing the car myself, I was very disappointed with what I found. The cabin filter was damaged and poorly fitted, which suggests it hadn’t been replaced properly. Even more concerning, the engine oil was thick, dark, and clearly hadn’t been changed—it looked like it had just been topped up. I won’t be returning and would encourage others to check the work on their vehicles carefully.

   Booked my car in for MOT online (managed to fit it in on a Saturday). They were on schedule, informed me of how long it would take and phoned me when it was ready (and informed me of any advisories). A bonus was that I was able to leave it there while I went shopping and for coffee over the road. The prices are very reasonable, staff are very organised and professional, and it's the cleanest garage I've ever been to!

   I returned from the airport at midnight on Sunday to a flat tyre. My disaster was dealt with calmly & professionally from the first phone call on Monday morning, to driving off back to Nottingham 3 hours later. Despite being fully booked Kwik fit squeezed me in and got me on my way.
