New management and in only three weeks itβs been transformed back into a fully functioning function house. Great to have the olde Wheatsheaf back! Beautiful beers, homely food and lovely lounge. Sports bar is lively too if thatβs your thing. Garden is as ever the best in Enfield (imho). Worth a bus trip!

Caveat: NEW OWNERS ARE TAKING OVER ON DECEMBER 8th 2025 Sunday 30th November 2025. Sunday lunch with the whole family. Can I give zero stars? I desperately want to support local businesses but... We've been here a fair few times in the past and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere so not sure what has happened to the place - don't get me wrong, the (as we discovered) caretaker manager was lovely but the food was absolutely awful when it arrived almost 90 minutes after we sat down... It turns out that NEW OWNERS ARE TAKING OVER ON DECEMBER 8th 2025 so our timing couldn't have been any worse. Sunday roasts were a disgrace - overcooked veg, an uncuttable chicken breast, thin sliced, dry beef and laser-cut pork. The yorkshire pud was decent (although obviously not home-made), but that was negated by gravy bizarrely served in an egg-cup-sized gravy boat which wasn't even full. Gravy can mask a thousand sins on a roast so I've got no idea why this was so weirdly sparse. Others in our group opted for the fishcakes which arrived with 1 intact, recognisable fishcake and another alongside it which appeared to have been drop-kicked onto the plate, so much that I thought it was scrambled egg. A veggie option of a beetroot burger promised much on the menu, which definitely didn't describe it as 'resting on a bed of old, browning lettuce'. Then there's the most basic of all food, the pub chip. How can that go wrong? We were served ready-made, frozen chips that granted, were cooked at some point in their existence before being left to cool off for what seemed to be a day or two. I mean, come on... The whole experience was so frustratingly disappointing. Even when they refunded 2 of the worst meals which we left intact & completely untouched, we still spent Β£100. This was a once-great local pub that used to serve very good food. I only hope the new owners can restore it to it's former glory.

Oh should have thought about taking a photo of the starter before we demolished it. It was a delicious sharing platter. Very tasty and a great variety of dishes. Probably didnβt need to order the main meals too but what the hell!! Extremely tasty food and the young lad serving at the bar was very polite and attentive. Great place to eat. Thank you

Nicely refurbished bar slash tap room. Has two sides and a lovely outdoor area-one of the best Iβve seen in a long while! Nice little booths and lots of heaters! Itβs covered over at the moment as itβs winter and rainy. Must make it back in the summer and see what itβs like then-hopefully the canopy is down to let the sunshine in!

A very good roast indeed. Good gravy and lots of it!! Cauliflower cheese was proper cheesy, yorkies were good, meat very nice and pigs in the blankets - a nice touch. Good selection of tastyales and cider. Lovely staff. Dog friendly. Will be back! I can also confirm rib Tuesday is very good! Burger Thursday is very good too!

I initially wrote a review that said the the service was hit and miss, everything else was fanatic. Now, however, itβs the opposite and much to the detriment of the business. I bought a Sunday roast today, plate turned up with the smallest slither of meat - a waiter asked, is everything ok? - I said thatβs crazy, they agreed and told me thatβs what the staff get as well, the kitchen are trying to save money and my Β£17 slither wasnβt resolved β¦ I then merrily thought I would fill Up on the Yorkshire pudding that tasted really βeggyβ and was abandoned, the rest, the veg and the croquet of sorts were under seasoned and also disregarded - I now have to cook dinner, Β£17 poorer this evening- itβs a shame, Enfield needs new blood, but this isnβt tolerable
