Traditional pub, varied but quite short (in a good way) menu. We are not talking about nouvelle cuisine, but standard pub food with a couple of quality fish options.

Not one to leave negative reviews, but was quite put out by the rude attitude of the owner / manager - we had moved a couple of chairs and table in the bar area to accommodate our group of 15 and had unknowingly put a chair in front of a door that didn’t have a sign on stating it was in use, or that it was needed for access or a fire exit etc. Someone came through the door externally and hit the chair, and that’s when we realised the door was in use even though it wasn’t clear. We apologised and immediately started to moved the chair, and the table back. As we were doing so, an individual who I assume was the owner / bar manager came and told us we needed to leave a walkway from this door. We explained we didn’t realise the door was in use, was trying to seat our group and would move the chairs / table immediately. He rudely said ‘would’ve been nice to ask me first before moving all my pub furniture’ - we’d moved one table and 4 chairs. We again apologised and said we would move the chairs, and he just responded ‘yeah you need to move it’ then proceeded to walk away. This was in front of other customers which was awkward and patronising to a group of 15 adults. Completely understand if we had been rude about it, or put a table / chair in the way of an obvious fire exit / accessible door. However, there was no signage and the door was not in obvious use. We were also apologetic of the situation as we wouldn’t have wanted to have purposely caused an inconvenience. There’s a way to speak to customers - especially a large group who are about to spend money in your establishment (we all ordered a drink each and some ordered sides/snacks) - and this was definitely not it at all. Maybe he was having a bad day - hope it got better for him.

We hired the Function Room for a family gathering. Rachel was an absolute star, super helpful in getting everything organised. The buffet was delicious and fantastic value. We've also had several lunches at the pub and the food has always been great. We'll worth a visit

Hired the “private” function room for an event at the weekend. Paid £299, for a buffet for 20 head, food was great but no where near enough for 20 people and poor selection, compared to when I used the venue 3 years old. I had people with dogs and prams walks through my private function, even the manager standing over the buffer food on his phone talking loudly. Girls behind the bar were great! Food not what I expected at all, I spend the week on the build to the event calling me the pub as I had no heard anything from there since my booking made 4 months ago, food was served by paper plates, and wasn’t provided a bin to clear these away when finished. From the photo attached I wouldn’t not recommend this amount of food for £299 for 20 people. Will not be booking again.

Lively pub, friendly staff and good service, however, the burger was a store-bought microwaved one. Similarly, the pie also looked store-bought. Disappointing.

Busy pub and restaurant, tucked away from the main road and away from Chistlehurst High Street. Lots of blokes having a lunchtime and afternoon pint, plus lots of friends and families having Sunday lunch. Nice spacious garden seating area. Sunday roast was delicious. Friendly staff.

A nice pub in rural suburbia with an extensive menu to surely suit all tastes? Sat outside, enjoying a pint and a couple of starters (whitebait and deep-fried brie) after a long walk around the adjacent Scadbury Park. Pleasant, helpful staff, if perhaps inattentive on occasions - 7' to get served, and 15+' to lose any interest in whatever desert might have been on the menu. Would certainly go back there next time I am in the area.
