I visited Halfords Romford to get a tyre fixed and I’m really happy with the service I received. Scott and his team were professional, friendly, and very efficient. They explained everything clearly and got the job done quickly, which I really appreciated. Excellent customer service all round — I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this branch.

This is the second time I have used Halfords, Romford branch. Once for replacing all the tyres on my Toyota Avensis, and yesterday, the same for my current Ford Kuga. Scott was very helpful in advising and scheduling the comprehensive additional options I chose, many were free or discounted by joining as a premier member. Staff were always helpful without feeling they were trying to sell additional services. I would need a good reason not to continue to use Halfords for all my vehicle requirements. Thank you Gary Mann MCIPHE

Recently had all 4 tyres fitted and balanced by the team at Halfords and Jay done an excellent job at them. The front of house team (Scott, Rob and Mo) were amazing guiding me throughout the whole process. Cant thank the team enough! Will definitely be coming back for future work!

I can now understand the reasoning behind the negative reviews from Halfords Autocentre Romford, so would like to contribute in warning others not to waste their time and money. Firstly having booked online for an 8:30am slot, I arrived at 8:20am as requested via the text to be told that I was really early and my MOT was not until 2:45pm and that my service would consequently follow this as it can’t be done prior. The car failed the MOT, due to a worn dust cap on the track end, which Halfords were quick to call me to quote for the part & labour and some additional bits which needed doing. To which I agreed as I needed the car back that day as promised by the technician and thinking Halfords being a big name, you could trust them. That evening, my wife paid for a taxi to collect the car from the test centre, to be told they were unable to source the correct part as my VIN and REG was showing a different part from which they removed. After waiting 40 minutes after arrival at the agreed time, the vehicle was returned with all the settings changed for my wife to be standing there in the pitch black, with no lights on the car, side step not opening, no electric mirrors and other electrical issues - not in the way in which it arrived, nor had the battery been disconnected. The mechanic had assured us upon arrival, he would try his best to source the part first thing in the morning and get back to us so we could get the works done. After contacting Halfords at 9am, the technician had obviously forgotten and his colleague recommended sourcing the part ourselves. I contacted Halfords again two hours later to be told that the parts place was not answering their phone and he would update myself as soon as he heard something. Having contacted the main dealers myself trying to source the part, after a few minutes I had managed to find what was requested after 24 hours of Halfords trying. Miraculously even trying the dealer in Colchester which Halfords were trying to contact, they answered within 5 rings. I called Halfords back to tell them the news, to be placed on hold for an hour and 14 minutes and then cut off as no one else could contact the garage, as I did try calling whilst on hold on my work phone, having been palmed off. I was then contacted again by Halfords at 4pm telling me that they were still unable to get in contact with the supplier. I then advised them I had tried to call earlier and sourced the part as I was asked to do, to which I was then told that they would not be able to install a part I provided as it affects there warranty so completely wasted my time. I was promised another call back by the end of the day to update me if any luck. 3 and a half days later, I’m still waiting for the call. Halfords never did ring me back. Knowing full well the MOT failure had to be corrected within 10 days and they had their money so basically get on with it. Having had another garage check the car over, the correct part was able to be ordered within the hour. They advised me that the full service which I paid for included an air filter, oil filter & oil. “This was not done by a mechanic”. The components didn’t look like something which were 4 days old, having been driven 10 miles. Also more concerning, the oil which Halfords had used was the wrong type for my engine as it was not the correct consistency and watery so they advised this would cause damage to my engine, so I had to pay for a second service within a week. A Jaguar specialist had the car back out to me, with new parts, a proper service and MOT within a day. They even cleaned the car and went the extra mile in ensuring my trust was regained in using a the right mechanic. Waiting for a response from Halfords

Such a poor experience this morning - appreciate any kit can go on the blink, but when I'd booked in for wheel alignment and the kit failed - rather than pro actively finding another Halfords who could help, getting me booked in on a fast track and telling me how sorry they were but they'd found me a solution (the level of customer service I'd suggest you should expect) - they simply said they couldn't do it after 45 mins waiting. I asked them if they could look into another Halfords who could help, but in the time it took them to start a conversation with someone about it I'd found a better solution for myself!! Anyone looking for wheel alignment, avoid here and go to Alltyres instead - amazing customer service & a warm, comfy waiting room to boot!!

The engine light come in my car and the car was shaking. So I called Halfords Romford Autocentre and I took the car in on 18th March 2023. I paid for a full diagnostic. Matt the assistant manager called me and said I 4 x new ignition coil and 4 x new spark plugs. He also said I need 2 new front break pads and disk x 2 even though I didnt feel there were any problems with the breaks. I paid £1185 for the service and collected the car the next day. The following day the car did the exact same thing and the engine light come straight back on. I took the car back to Halfords and they done another diagnostic on the car and turns out the problem was an electrical fault with the engine and the engineer said he didn't have time the first time around to check it because his boss only gave him an hour to work on it. He then informed me he is unable to fix it because its an electrical problem and Haflords dont provide that service and told me i need to go to the main dealer. They clearly didn't do a full diagnostic on the car first time round and I'm now without a car until I can get it booked in with the main dealer Ford to fix the problem and Ive also got to still pay Ford to fix the issue. I'm disgusted with the way I've been treated by this branch. I feel like I've been absolutely conned and lied too. I paid out a lot of money. Very dishonest people and I want my money back in full because they're in breach of contract. They shouldve never done any work on the car knowing they couldn't fix the problem. I expect Halfords to refund me in full and I have raised my concerns to Halford Customer Service Team.

Truly bad service experience. Booked a specific time slot to have my Dad’s tyres replaced. He turned up at (indeed 10mins early as required) only to be told they don’t have the tyres and couldn’t provide a time when they’d be available. I called 40mins later, and apparently the tyres were now in but we’d have to wait in line for them to be fitted (admittedly the wait wasn’t too long) but the IDIOT who fitted them switched off the auto lights so my (80yr+) dad left and was driving around without lights for an hour!

I must say a massive thankyou to Max for getting my BMW seen too a week earlier than booked. When I came in the general introduction, quick in depth call backs and the clear instructions with regards to my vehicle was very good and professional so thought it was only right to leave a review. Will update further once work completed next week.

Very unhappy with their advisories during MOT for my car 1.Front Items removed from driver's view prior to test 2. Offside Rear Child Seat fitted not allowing full inspection of adult belt These are little things which can be spoken to the owner before making it an advisory. Now it stays as an advisory in MOT history. How can a security dash cam become an advisory? is the staff not trained to remove a child seat to test the adult seat belt. Never again to halfords.

Easy to book a service online, staff were very helpful, and called me before any additional parts were required with the costs explained and my options. A very short wait when picking up my vehicle. No issues happy to recommend or use again.
