   I have been using this garage for the past 3/4 years following a recommendation from a friend whose parents have used Lee for years. What can I say...always able to solve my problems! Recently took my car to another mechanic as these guys were away and it sounded from the noise that my car had something seriously wrong with it. After about 1 hour of investigations I was told it MAY be my shock absorber and would cost around £200 to repair. It didn’t sit right with me so waited for Startec to reopen. Took it on Tuesday and received a phone call within moments to be told that it was simply my front tyre was missing a bolt and the other 3 were loose!!!! £3.50 for a bolt! Problem went from sounding VERY serious to SOLVED. Mechanics have a reputation for being dishonest etc but over the years these guys have definitely gained my trust with fair and honest prices. Aside from that, they have always, always, always been able to come up with solutions for my little Peugeot 206cc which I am not quite ready to give up :-)

   I wouldn't have ever got to know about Startec if I didn't have the good fortune of having my car break down about 100 yards from their garage. When the AA guy turned up, he said, "I can tow you home, but the garage around the corner is really good – why don't I just take you there?" That was over ten years ago. I've been coming here ever since. The owner Lee is a lovely guy. Their charges are very reasonable indeed. I've tried to tip them in the past, but they've refused. So the best I can do by way of a tip is to recommend them on here, which I can do wholeheartedly. Also: if you drop your car off for repair, try and do it on a Friday, when the nearby Brook Cafe – which is worth a visit at any time actually – does their special charcoal grilled skewered kebabs (the kleftico's pretty awesome too).
