Forward Thinking Birmingham almost ruined my life (warning U, go private if U can) Every time the crisis team, a branch from home treatment, would assign a number of home visits on certain days to check on you and they would then forget to turn up or change their minds and not turn up without informing U. This would leave u waiting for them to turn up, and when no one did from HTeam you would cry in distress. There is no communication from the Dr, and home treatment team made me often feel worse by not telling me I wasn't doing enough to get better. The crisis team & home treatment team would not come to my aid when in crisis and often left ambulance and police to aid to me instead. Because home treatment team did not help me I often reached out to charities for help... and the charities call 999 ambulance or police. Home Treatment wouldn't support me knowing I had just come back from A&E, on multiple occasions due to suicide attempts. The oleaster centre Dr would putting a certain amount of home visits in place and then home treatment would change the amount of home visits I would get the very next day. Due due to the many A&E visits I got seen as a regular at A&E. home treatment always preferred 2call you rather than visit you, it resulted in many times where I hurt myself and the charities again called police to have me 136. When having a major crisis home treatment never vouched for me. I learned by accident home treatment Dr called me an attention seeker to police and to my family. This gave me a bad reputation with the police. I was only calling charities for help. Home treatment team forgot to prescribe my medication all the time as well. When I committed suicide again, vulnerable distraught girl I again called home treatment for help, I never once called the police or ambulance myself, and the home treatment team on that day refused to see me. Home treatment team on that day called police and ambulance for my welfare. West Midlands police decided to arrest me for wasting police's time and public nuisance, this was dropped immediately within 2 hrs. I later proved to West Midlands police I never called 999 by submitting 2 year phone records showing I never called 999. WMP never apologised for these false allegations. Left me traumatized for life. I'm a normal girl who goes college. Home treatment team always warned me that you could get fined for calling the police, or ambulance too much, I protested to home treatment and said I have never called the police in my life...Nor have I called the police too much. I'm warning you as a innocent person traumatised by these events the police could arrest you, if the police believe you have called 999 too many times or if they believe your wasting their time. Recommend going private if you can!

They should become authors and writers. In medical review letters they over exaggerate with their choice of words and like using there imagination to write about fictional appointments and incidents.

Latest update 25.09.25, pretty sure I’ve been discharged now, they cancelled my last arranged appointment day of, then no letters for appointments or telephone link sent via text as agreed if I couldn’t show up (due to not getting letters from them for appointments) since then, I’ve only received a late notice that I missed an appointment and am being discharged if I don’t get back to them within a certain amount of days. They also gave my GP a heart attack because of incorrectly/falsely written reviews including a dangerous, fictional update on medication and appointments that didn’t happen. No more words to spare, simply the worst experience. (update - image is screenshot of a post I’ve come across about this service online) Oaklands & finch road- Honestly pretty awful, although James from the ICON team (?) really put in effort to do his job attentively which I valued tremendously, it would be great if more staff seemed this invested in patient outcomes and understood the value of quality care. I wish that FTBs systems were more smooth running, and suited to the type of people they’re supposed to be assisting. The constant changes in staff, and inadequate care are harmful, not just speaking of my own case but also others I’m aware of. I believe the issue goes beyond understaffing especially given conversations I’ve had with people who work for this service that also express shock or frustration at the inadequacies of medics/system. I’m unsure if calling the reception to give updates actually results in anything most of the time. There honestly seems to be a general lack in common sense if not just plain lack of interest in thorough support - and unfortunately bare minimum is not enough in this line of work. Sometimes it’s so bad it’s laughable but only for a moment because really it’s just such a shame they’re the only NHS option. When there are mostly 1 star reviews, and many people saying they’re made to feel worse when dealing with FTB surely intervention or measures should be taken. The pharmacists seem to be the only ones that diligently do their job consistently. If anyone is reading this and has the energy or power to do anything, please do, the service needs to be improved in order for patients to experience genuinely improved outcomes. I cannot imagine the frustration and lack of faith I would feel as a parent of a patient, knowing how I feel as a young adult patient. :(

If I could leave 0 stars I absolutely would. First of all, the receptions are rude as hell second of all they put you on a never ending waiting list, third of all they advise you to call the crisis team or some other rubbish mental health team if you’re in “crisis” who’s advice is “Walk outside” Well no crap Sherlock, if that was the fix to depression and mental health issues no one would be depressed anymore. Honestly if you have the money go private because these people are absolutely useless

One star too many. This agency for adolescents isn't fit for purpose. My daughter has very complex mental health needs and has been given a student to work with her like my daughter is a text book case study. Reception staff also useless. It's about time there handling of young people was investigated as my daughter has been passed from pillar to.post expected to relive her past trauma, student leaving the room mid session to get upset what the hell. You as a student should in your training should be taught about counter transference. It's not your platform to share your trauma with my daughter. Or to be sitting there clock watching I am ranging and it's time we go private your a disgrace and should be shut down.

Very bad experience with one specific nurse who was caring for my son. There’s no compassion and they are very rude. This is the team based at Finch Road. Someone need to intervene to stop these arrogant rude and unprofessional people from looking after vulnerable young adult. Majority of them got no care or compassion. There are too many service users who share the same experience with this organisation. There are a few nice ones there. This should not be allowed to continue. This is why birmingham mental health service is failing. It’s not about the care or compassion. It’s just a pay check for these workers.

Been waiting on a diagnosis over a year later with no support or clear time frames given as to when this will move forward. Every time I try and call and ask for an update I am put on hold and have been told today “you’re still on the waiting list..there’s nothing I can really do”. A tiring, frustrating and pretty useless system.

I can not believe how I have been spoken to today........I am RGN /RegisteredMidwife since 1988 and have never experienced such unproffesionalism. Rude obtuse argumentative dismissive totally uncaring and arrogant . Following my interaction with this organisation today I will have no further contact with them. What qualifies these incompetent people to provide a caring mental health service is beyond me. Thankfully my child wasnt exposed to the experience that I encountered .I will seek alternative support from softly spoken caring professionals !

If I could leave no stars I would, my child was referred by GP in March 2022 still waiting for help. no one informed me that my daughter was discharged twice, I found out by calling there. I phoned every week for help and was fobbed off, they should have the contract taken from them they are not fit for purpose. An absolute disgrace. And meanwhile young people are suffering, shame on you.

Not good. Called saying I was really struggling and was really at the end of my hope. They referred me to the crisis team and they are even worse! Wouldn’t call me when supposed to.would come on home visits and just say it’s okay, give me meds and leave. Really appalling services considering it’s a mental health team!
