Have been with Dr Perkins (Brian) since he took over from Dr Peel (old practice?) for well over 20 years. Very easy going & friendly & listens to you. Obviously he has time slots but you never feel rushed. I understand the frustrations & one stars regarding trying to book an appointment but this seems to be across the board now as opposed to it being solely an issue with this particular practice since covid. When you do get through to book an appointment you're greeted with a not so happy receptionist who makes you feel like a burdon on her day. I try & put this down to dealing with all the phonecalls first thing of a morning! Otherwise she's been very accommodating & helpfulI when the need arises. I don't like having to tell a receptionist what my issue is though...It should be between me & the doc. Paula the nurse was equally great & also had time for questions etc. A nurse I saw on an earlier visit was terrible...she couldn't wait to get rid...had no time...& the waiting room was practically empty! ..she didn't know why I was there! (health check). But overall no intentions of changing doctor....proper family doctor to us for many years. If I knew I was going to write a review this long I'd have sold it as a book...donations instead are welcome.

Dr Perkins himself can never help me enough. The receptionist however is always very rude. I should have to tell them the ins and outs of why I need an appointment, my medical issue is embarrassing enough without having to tell them what is wrong every single time I book an appointment. Called today to book an appointment. It took 20 mins to actually get through only to be met with the most obnoxious attitude. I shouldn't have to deal with this as a patient. I called for an appointment, not to be spoken to like a child. Minus 2 stars Mr Perkins, because you reception staff are terrible.

Terrible Experience at NHS GP Practice The Absolute Worst I am writing this review to express my extreme dissatisfaction with Dr. Parkin's NHS GP practice. This practice is, without a doubt, the worst healthcare experience I've ever had. Here's a list of my grievances: Unbelievably Long Wait Times: Getting an appointment is a nightmare. Even after securing one, expect to wait in the waiting room. Unprofessional Doctors: I've had appointments with various doctors , and none have instilled confidence. They seem unconcerned about my health problems. I would recommend looking for alternative GP practices in the area. There must be better options out there with qualified professionals who genuinely care about their patients' well-being. If you're looking for a GP experience that will leave you feeling more unwell than when you arrived, then NHS is the place for you! Buckle up, because this is a tale of woe. Getting There is an Odyssey: Firstly, reaching a human to book an appointment is an act of pure masochism. The phone lines are permanently engaged in a game of dial tone torture, and the online system is about as user-friendly as a medieval trebuchet. Finally, you're ushered into the office. Prepare for a five-minute consultation. Don't expect in-depth examinations or thoughtful diagnoses. Here, a generic prescription pad are your only companions. I understand that the NHS is under a lot of strain, but that doesn't excuse the unprofessional and unacceptable service.

Dr Perkins is definitely the best doctor around with out a doubt. Dr Perkins goes above a beyond when it comes too making sure that everyone in heβs surgery get the best level of care and medication to his best ability an always gives 110%. Dr Perkins is as always very friendly an professional never rush my appointment ever. (Unlike some other GPβs that I have been too in the passed.) Dr Perkins deserve recognition for his dedication an extra time he puts in to his work thank you Dr Perkins practiced, the secretary do a very good job considering the very high demand for applications ever day .

Dr Perkins is a first class doctor but the system they use to book appointments is appalling. I believe they have 30 appointments available and can't understand if you do manage to get through after only 3 minutes all the appointments have gone. Whilst visiting the practice, I see that other doctors are busy with patients apart from doctor Perkins where there are no patients sat waiting. Why? I have been waiting over 12 months for a booking appointment for gynaecology even though I have spoken to doctor Perkins and been rung by receptionist 6 times and this has still not been received. Whilst I can understand the NHS is under pressure I just feel this is an excuse not to see anybody.

If you get to speak to Dr Perkins, he is great, however, I can't get an appt. You ring at 8am, after over 68 times of ringing you may get through then all appts have gone by 8.04am.?? Over 3 weeks now with chest problems, endometriosis pain and a slipped disc. I work in the community helping others but can't get any help myself. A and E seems to be my only option.

Perhaps the worst medical service. How can I criticise the doctor? You are very lucky if you get to talk to him. It begins and ends with the secretary, the lady who thinks she works in Downing Street. If you want to wake up in a good mood, you'd better not call her, otherwise you'll want to bang your head against the wall. As many have criticised there is no online dating at all, as for telephone dating, it's a lottery. Get up at 08:00 AM, wait half an hour, perfect, you have passed the first step, now you have a 15% chance of getting the appointment, if you don't get it, the old lady will tell you "didn't you hear me, I told you there are no appointments, you piece of ..." anyway, I am thinking of changing to a more humane practice.

I joined this practice about a year ago, I can't comment about Dr Perkins himself because I haven't met him. The only communication I have had with him was indirect, when he told the diabetes practice nurse to tell me he was changing my medication. Communication at one remove like that wasn't sufficient because I had questions about the listed side effects for the new medication (they included increased risk of liver cancer) and I couldn't ask Dr Perkins about them directly. Also, I chose this practice because its website offers booked appointments online, as well as a telephone triage system. That is incorrect, you have to phone at 8 in the morning and hope you can get through in the following five minutes before all that day's appointments are booked up. They refuse to offer appointments booked in advance at all. The effect of that is bound to be that a lot of patients will never be able to get through on the phone and so will effectively be denied treatment. According to the CGC, G.P.s surgeries are supposed to offer more than one method of getting an appointment. I have also still not been given the instructions for how to order repeat prescriptions online, even though I have asked three times. I can only surmise that, however good the doctor is, the practice is being let down by below standard administration. I expect I will only use the practice's services for my annual checks for my existing long term health problems - they are at least efficient at giving me appointments for those - and get treated for any new ailments via the out of hours service. That does give booked appointments. And that being so, I expect I will never actually meet my GP.
