   i would like to say a big thanks to dr James ball and his friendly and very helpful team.for my lens replacement surgery on 03/11/2025 at Optegra Bowcliffe hall wheterby . I was amazed how’s the operation was conducted in such professional way. dr James ball made me feel very comfortable during all the procedure everything went smoothly 10 minutes on each eye without any pain.after a few days my vision became incredibly great. it changed my life.its definitely money worth, and without any doubt recommend this place to anyone I know. many thanks again mr james ball .    I had a complex eye prescription - strong long-sightedness (+7 and +7.5), astigmatism, and presbyopia. Additionally, I’ve undergone three surgeries to correct squints and have worn glasses since I was a toddler (I’m now 56). Given these challenges, I never thought eye surgery would be an option for me. However, when presbyopia set in during my fifties, juggling three pairs of glasses (for reading, computer use, and distance) became increasingly frustrating. The final straw was learning that a new pair of varifocals would cost £1100! I recently decided to have lens replacement surgery, and I am absolutely delighted with the results. My distance and intermediate vision are now excellent, and I only need inexpensive off-the-shelf reading glasses for close-up tasks - which is exactly what I was promised and had hoped for. And this is just two weeks post-surgery! The procedure itself was much quicker than I expected, lasting only about ten minutes. Thanks to the calm and reassuring competence of James Ball, I felt completely relaxed throughout. Every staff member at the clinic was professional, kind, and supportive, making the whole process smooth and stress-free. Like many others have said, this has truly been a life-changing experience. From start to finish, everything was flawless, and I would not hesitate to recommend the clinic to others.

   After over 40 years of wearing glasses my life has been transformed beyond my expectations- thanks to James Ball and Optegra. I have perfect vision, no longer require prescription sunglasses or ski goggles ( which are all expensive) and can do my makeup without a magnifying mirror!!! My results encouraged my husband and my sister to have the same procedure. Everyone agrees it is life enhancing. A great team of people at Bowcliffe ensure you feel welcome and look after you through the whole process. I cannot commend them highly enough.

   The whole service I received from Customer Vision was excellent. James put me at ease straightaway explaining the whole procedure from start to finish. The most important detail which James explained and I would recommend to anyone having lense replacement is to have the operation a week apart so there is no chance of any infection spreading. All other companies insist in doing both eyes at once!!!! Since the lease replacement I have had no need for glasses and I am surprised how small the print I can read I cannot recommend James Ball and his team enough

   Did a lot of research before I chose James Ball. I felt in safe hands and 3 months on from new lenses, I’m thrilled. I really is like magic.I can drive at night without anxiety (I live in an area without street lights) and even though it took a while for my middle distance to correct itself and my eyes to stop feeling dry, I haven’t regretted it for a second.

   18 months ago I had cataract surgery on both eyes and replacement lenses that corrected astigamatism as well. The surgery was quick and painless and now I have 20/20 vision for both reading and distance which is amazing after wearing glasses/ contact lenses since I was 7 years old! I am updating my post now as I have just had a holiday in Kefalonia and it was just amazing to see the turquoise and dark blues of the Ionian Sea without any need of glasses and it I was fabulous to swim in the sea and see into the distance as well as see below me the tiny fish in the sea. I cannot thank James Ball or Custom Vision Clinic enough!

   I had Intraocular lens implants and also corrective laser surgery (after the implants) for fine tuning. My husband who is an optician has always held James Ball in very high regard and so when I started my journey insisted that I pay Custom Vision Clinic a visit. I cannot recommend James and the team highly enough. I had a very high myopic prescription and actually went in for lens replacement. Mr Ball, however, instead of pushing this more expensive surgery, asked that I consider lens implants instead. Since my prescription was so high the risk factor associated with lens replacement was too high and he said the safer option at my age (46 when treatment began) would be lens implants. My main aim was to be glasses and contact lens free so the replacement didn’t sound like it would be a good fit for me. However, after a lengthy discussion about how my prescription would be ‘set’ to make me glasses free I was convinced that this was something I wanted to go ahead with. Each eye surgery was done separately and I was extremely nervous (who wouldn’t be) but Mr Ball and the team were incredibly patient and attentive and answered every single one of my 5,000,000 questions with care and compassion. I am now over a year down the line after surgery and a few months after the laser treatment and I could not be happier. I am 95% glasses free and only need to pick up my reading glasses for prolonged activities requiring them but for the rest of the time I don’t need them at all. Prior to surgery I had a pair of reading glasses in every single room of the house I simply could not read a thing without them, whereas now, I can type this review without using them at all. My distance vision is also excellent I can’t remember a time where I could see any better even with my contact lenses in. It’s a scary step to take I know and I can honestly say that if I had to go through this all over again (I will when I eventually need cataract surgery) James is the only person I would ever consider.

   After suffering with inflammation for 6 years, and being prescribed steroid drops, my cataract in both eyes got significantly worse. Being told I have to wait on the NHS as this would require a specialist, which was not available was extremely distressing. I could not recommend Mr James Ball enough! The confidence and care both my eye operations were carried out with was amazing. Both operations have been life changing. The after care was brilliant, and I have never had such perfect vision. I can see things which I haven’t seen in years, and this has given me a new found confidence and love for life! Every time I have visited the clinic, the staff have been phenomenal. Friendly, attentive and professional (especially Angela). Both my daughters will be visiting Mr Ball in the New Year to have consultations also. Thank you to Mr Ball & Team! N Jan
