Great store with everything you need but without being to big you can't find stuff. Easy free parking and staff are always friendly.
Today 31/07/25 Chris behind the kiosk what a man- the most helpful joyful worker there is at Penistone Tesco. I’ve always thought he was a happy& helpful, but today he absolutely deserves a five star review! Such a credit to the store!!
Large local store. Plenty of fresh produce, good meat selection and homewares. Quick progression through the store using the clubcard scanner. Observations: - Large store well stocked with products - Plenty of trolleys and baskets - Customer toilets - Plenty of car parking
No Management! Attended this premises on Monday 16th June for the Big Shop only to have to queue for 25 minutes as they only had 1 normal till open with one member of staff having to serve 15+ people , 2 more members of staff were watching the self serve tills but were un willing to help the queue as 'its not my job ' , when asked to speak to a manager we got the duty manager who was unable to help either as she doesn't do the rota ! And also unable to manage a till to help with the backlog of queuing customers, also received back chat from the lady on self checkout when asked to open another till to help ... They also don't seen to have any security as children are allowed to leave bikes in the entrance area blocking access ! Fire risk !! Then the kids run around the isles causing mischief.
Generally an ok store apart from the fruit and veg, consistently poor, goes off quickly , bruised fruit and todays visit was awful with poorly stocked shelves. Ready to eat avocados were just mush. If trying to be price sensitive with Aldi Lidl etc means stocking poor F+V then you are winning at that
Great if you want out of date fruit, veg and meat and love queueing for 30 mins to pay for 3 items as most tills gone and replaced by self serve.
Temperature control of vegetables is clearly wrong. Broccoli spoilt by being kept too cold, french beans wet and cold, lettuce full of condensation. Keep them cool, don't freeze them!
What a lovely place in this small town. Big car park,loads of trolleys and good Lighting. Very welcoming. Plenty of items as always in Tesco but vegetables are more expensive than other places. They should add clothing section and chemist as well. However I enjoyed the journey here.
I want to thank the young lady called Chelsea who works in store. She helped my mum when she was taken ill yesterday 2/8, she helped her when I had both dogs outside, I can't thank her enough for the discretion and understanding. She even came out to me to explain what was happening. Thank you again, we both really appreciate it.
