   I finally decided I should warn others and let the owner know what happened. I visited this salon in early March 2025. I wanted a light balayage so my roots and fringe could get a bit lighter and blend with my natural golden brown curls. Saron left the unmonitored bleach on the bottom layers for 1 hour 40 minutes and the top layers for 1 hour 20 minutes - she was busy with another client. My scalp was literally burning, and I had to tell her she either removes it herself or I would, which finally prompted her to take it off. When she finally finished, the colour was extremely light, stringy, and all my natural hair color was gone—completely not what I wanted. She even claimed bleach stops acting after a certain time, which is false—it continues to break the hair. I had literal holes on my scalp from chemical burns, and my hair structure was destroyed. When I tried to get the £200 refund for this service, she refused accountability (screenshot attached): “Marion, you wanted to blond, that makes hair dry! Full stop! … I have no power to refund all your money … only £73.72. Also, your hair was very dry before from the colour you had back in France!” The last color I had done prior to this disaster was with her, not any salon in France. The French salon had only applied a toner over a year earlier, which was not damaging. Saron’s March appointment ruined my hair entirely. Fast forward to October, seven months later: I have lost most of my hair, with only 3 cm in diameter remaining. I had to cut off all the damaged strands. I paid around £200 for this service and had to send multiple messages to finally get refunded. My hair continued to shed and break for months, and it will likely take another year or more to recover—if the follicles aren’t permanently damaged. I’ve never had hair in this state, and Saron never apologised or took responsibility. Picture 1 and 2 show my hair after the appointment, picture 3 shows my hair before the appointment, picture 4 shows the holes on my scalp from the burns, and picture 5 shows my hair now, which is almost non-existent.

   Saron has been cutting my hair for years. I ask for a ‘Lynch’ and she nails it everytime. I really like the salon too, clean, bright and nice vibes. Everyone in there is so friendly. It’s an excellent local hairdresser but also worth the trip. It is conveniently located next to Hackney Central station and lots of shops and other amenities so I get all my errands done too!

   If you are reading this most probably is because you need a hairdresser and you are wondering how good is Hackney Style Council. Then, you’ll love to read this; What a hidden gem in the heart of Hackney. There are so many hairdressers out there but so little I feel I can trust and really difficult to find. Kevin owns and runs this shop which by the way looks so cool. I have long hair and I needed someone who really knows how to deal with men’s long hair. That person is Kevin. What a master! I can only recommend for those who live nearby or if they can easily arrive by London’s Overground to Hackney Central station. It is just in front. Kevin also does women’s hair so my wife has been booked for next week! Ah, book your appointment as no walk-ins are undertaken due a huge amount of people who has discovered what I did today.    Kevin is simply incredible. I had such bad times with hairdressers in the past that I basically stopped and just got my girlfriend to cut my hair. Kevin actually listens to what you want and follows through. The best haircut I've ever had, and that supplants the last best, which was also by him. Great company, and great music playing. An all-round amazing experience. Thank you!

   Trixie did an amazing hair transformation. I told her the rough idea of what I wanted and let her take the lead and I wasn’t disappointed. I have fine hair so am often a bit nervous about hairdressers but since I’ve started getting my hair done by Trixie I always leave loving my hair and feeling confident.

   Honestly never review anything, but after years of fearing hairdressers more than dentists I finally found the one for me! Kevin is an absolute hero who made me feel so comfortable after having had some bad experiences with hairdressers in the past and made me feel so reassured by spending the time making sure we were getting the hairstyle exactly how I wanted it. The cut was incredible, and I was able to pop back in to get my bangs trimmed. Have another appointment booked and feeling incredibly ready for another hair reboot thanks to Hackney Style Council. Cannot recommend highly enough!
