   If I could give zero or even negative stars I would. First of all, I have booked a full groom for my 13 yo lovely border collie in August with 3 months advance, only to be cancelled on the day due to staff sickness. Not offering to be fitted at earliest date. I got really upset but also thought, well, those things happen. Then went online, booked again for 3 months after, which it was supposed to be today. Planned my whole day around it, was even early for the appointment. Very unhappy staff, it seemed she didn’t want to be there at all. Maybe a career change or even some customer training would be suitable to this miserable staff member. Dropped my elderly dog off, informed she has arthritis, but very healthy. Only to be called 25 min later to be told they couldn’t groom her because she was too stressed and “have pooed everywhere” and screaming as in pain. I went and picked her up, doggy was absolutely happy and bubbly like always (well I thought she was in pain) and very wet, the self service was out of order. The lady had the audacity to advise me they couldn’t groom her again and then I should try again some other day and at home to let her to air dry. Well, having the dog for 13 years, I think I’m more than capable to handle and aware of my own dog’s needs. I have explained this never happened before and she has been groomed before at Pets at Home in Salford and NEVER EVER had have problems. I believe either the staff needs training about handling anxious dogs, understanding it could be stressful for them or they need some other job, because the way they treat their clients and being miserable in a job people pay big price for their services isn’t a good thing.

   I had an appointment at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, October 14th 2025. They rejected saying I am late by 5 minutes, and the new person that is going to train is not skilled enough to finish with in time. Anyway I changed the saloon.

   If I could give this place zero I would do. We had our dog groomed today and are very upset by the result. Same as other reviews, they said he was matted which he wasn't and came away like he had been hacked at. There's still a clump of hair which they've missed and his face is uneven. This is the last time we're going there. AVOID! I have since had my dog groomed twice at a new groomers with not one single mention of matting and had two lovely grooms done by them.

   This place clearly DOES NOT know how to groom a cocker spaniel. Asked for a trim and she’s been shaven down so much it’s irritated her skin, it’s patchy and looks awful. Avoid this place unless you want a patchy dog

   I used to bring my poodle here but I’ve gone elsewhere now & much happier, every time I used to bring my dog they said he was matted and would need to shave him almost down to his skin, one time they phoned me to say they couldn’t complete the job as he was overwhelmed, no wonder when you shave him down to his skin, he looked a complete mess when I picked him up & had to wait a week for them to finish him off. I have been going somewhere else now & they know what they’re doing, they take their time with him & never once have said he is matted, I just think they have a tight schedule to get through the groin so cannot be bothered & just shave him.

   We have booked our dog in at the Groom Room at Handforth twice now. On both occasions we turned up at the appointment time, only to be told that they are no longer able to groom our dog, because they are short of staff and have no spaces available. No attempted contact was made by the Groom Room to advise us of this. Absolutely awful service from every angle. We will not be making a third appointment with them!

   I have had my dog booked in for 3 months - with being peak season and every groomer being so busy I could not get an appointment sooner anywhere else. On the day of the appointment I get a call to say this particular stylist had called in sick and so they had to cancel this stylist’s appointments after months of waiting! Saying they would “try” and fit me in sometime. Not good enough. I will never use them again.

   What a shame theres no option for 0 so ill have to stick to 1 but anyways this place definitely deserves a 0! have you people not seen the tiny enclosures for the rabbit’s , i’ve seen 4 rabbits in a small box that isn’t even the correct size for 1! and dont even get me started with the fish ‘homes’ more like prisons with no little decorations which would definitely get rid of a fishes bordem and add a little joy in there life at this terrible place. Oh and i cant forget to mention the mice and hamster enclosure definitely a 0 out of 10 for them, the wheels are bad for the hamsters and mices back and its very, very small. Someone do me a favour and take all these animals and give them a better life, or better shut down this place!

   Brought my 10 month old pup in for a bath and brush as well as her nails clipped. Super friendly staff and Nina is lovely. clean and knot free. Will definitely use again xx
