I have been using Go Simple Tax for about four years now and it has saved me a fortune on Accountancy fees. Initially I had several teething problems, but they were sorted out when I contacted Customer Services, who usually responded in less than 24 hours. I am really pleased with this software and would recommend.
GoSimpleTax's ID verification system rejected my VALID UK driving licence twice during the ID check, so I was unable to submit online. I was declined a refund under their T&Cs, which state that two failed checks and it's tough luck, even if it's their system that's at fault - how can I fail the check with a valid ID? I have now cancelled my subscription.
I'm leaving this review mainly in response to the 3 most recent 1* reviews I've just read below. I've been using GST for 4 years now & just successfully submitted my tax return last night with absolutely no problems whatsoever?? This years return also included a slightly complicated taxable bereavement pension I had claimed but it was all there on the software & no problem in the end. Also I used to pay an accountant nearly monthly what I just paid GST for a year! It's really hard on companies who DO have a decent product that DOES work when idiots who can't work a simple bit of software mess up their ratings with 1* reviews!
GO FOR A COMPETITOR, DO NOT USE! The IT system froze up for me in January, when I most needed it. Their technical systems are a disaster, and I strongly don't recommend this. Additionally, they are very sleazy with the membership options. They send a sly email saying the membership will be renewing in March. If you don't cancel in a few weeks, it renews in April - and they REFUSE TO REFUND. Sounds obvious but PLEASE CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL ASAP when you see this. I emailed them in April to ask to cancel the renewal, they refused, despite it being for 2024/2025. Just a really sleazy company to deal with. And most importantly, the IT systems were awful, slow and full of errors when I used it for this tax return. Please go with a competitor, and save yourself this hassle. Not worth dealing with such a company for an important tax return issue

Self-employment form is super easy to fill in and the advice they offer is invaluable. It often takes hours to get through to HMRC, but Louise got back to me within 30 minutes. So many headaches I've had, but GoSimpleTax are actually helpful. Louise has been so patient with me and explains everything well!
