I would like to raise a concern about the pricing of the Knauf XPS Laminate Plus 2400x1200x27mm insulated plasterboard in your stores. You are currently selling these boards for £63 each, which is exceptionally high for a simple plasterboard with a layer of 27mm insulation bonded to it. Given Wickes’ purchasing power and your ability to negotiate bulk rates directly with manufacturers such as Knauf, I find it difficult to understand why the retail price is set at this level. Other suppliers in the UK are able to offer similar 27mm XPS insulated boards for around £40–£48, and this difference raises questions about the value you are providing to customers. DIY stores play an important role in supporting local builders, tradespeople, and homeowners carrying out small projects. Pricing a standard insulated board at £63 makes it far less accessible and undermines the purpose of a community-focused building store. It is difficult to justify such a price when alternatives are available significantly cheaper elsewhere. I would strongly encourage your sales and sourcing team to review your supplier arrangements and consider whether more competitive options exist. With the resources and buying power that Wickes has, it should be possible to source these boards and any other materials at a more reasonable trade cost and pass on fairer pricing to customers. Otherwise, it becomes harder to see the advantage of visiting your stores when more affordable options are readily available in the market.

EDIT: After a second thought, we have bumped up the rating to 4 stars. Staff are incredibly helpful, knowledgable and always willing to help. This store has all your bits you need for your renovations. We have consistently used this Wickes store for our renovations. Had to knock a star off as we recently went to visit their kitchen designer, seemed like the designer didn't even care for our project and also Wickes kitchen is higher in price compared to other market leaders and competitors. Plenty of parking slots which is extremely handy.

Booked a kitchen design appointment online and arranged time with my tenants and staff to be at the property. We waited over 20 minutes past the appointment time and even phoned the branch, where a colleague said the designer was “on the way.” No one turned up. When I complained, I was told my phone “doesn’t work” - which is ridiculous as I run my business through it daily and was made to feel like I was at fault for expecting a confirmed appointment to actually be honoured. This isn’t the first time the Plumstead branch has wasted my time. I will now take my business elsewhere and suggest anyone needing a reliable service avoid this branch.

Absolutely disgusted with the customer service at the Plumstead Wicks! The supervisor, who I guess was supposed to be in charge, clearly missed the memo on what customer service actually means. And the manager? Even worse. Arrogant, unhelpful, and seemingly unaware of their own company's policies. Seriously, sort out your team or get rid of the management. I won't be wasting my time shopping there again, even if it's the closest store to my place. Zero stars if I could."

This store is fine if you just plan to buy some necessary accessories, if it is close to your home, but if you want to do a big plan, such as changing to a new set of kitchen units or a new bathroom, then skip this store, because the cabinet staff don’t want to take your business at all, and make you feel that you should not come here to design your kitchen, go somewhere else, and don’t waste my time. I came to this branch at 5 years ago to design my kitchen, and they ignored customers in the same way. I didn’t expect that 5 years later, they had the same attitude. It’s better to cancel the cabinet design department in this store, and it can also save costs for your company. It’s just a display kitchen units and even the kitchen design manager is a decoration. But don’t forget that you are a brand chain store. Once the customer is not satisfied with the staff of this branch .they will have no good impression of the entire brand. Why not choose B&Q? The kitchen design department can do walk in service which makes me more willing to pay for the service. Never shop wicks plumstead again .

I usually shop at Homebase but, wanted to browse in wickes for the first time. I went there for a couple of things but unfortunately ending up with only 1. For a diy shop there is a limited product variety ( which was a shame). There was not also a lack of product knowledge of the employees but, the employees were unaware where products were located too. The experience was overall disappointing.

A standard DIY store with enough parking on a Wednesday afternoon. The staff are very attentive in the kitchen and bathroom planning department.
