The store advertises opening at 11am, yet customers were allowed in at 10am with no prior notice and told it was “browsing only”. None of the tills or self-checkouts were available, and customers were explicitly not allowed to pay. What made this especially frustrating was seeing a staff member being checked out during this time, while customers were told purchases were not possible. This felt unfair and poorly handled. There was no clear signage at the entrance explaining the situation, which led to confusion and wasted time. If a store chooses to open early for browsing only, this should be clearly communicated, not when there’s a queue of 20 people; and staff transactions should not be carried out in full view of customers. All legal, but it was very poor customer service and communication. I expected better transparency and consistency.

The store is a good store but the only issue i have is with the security. I was there early in the morning on saturday 16th August 2025 and i go to the disabled toilet to do my hijab, even though i’m not disabled - i thought this would not be an issue as i’d be quick and it was about 7am so i didn’t think anyone would come. As i am doing my headscarf i look in the mirror and see an eye peeking at me through the crack, to my dismay i see it was the security guard. Me going to the disabled toilet is NO EXCUSE for anyone to be peeking through, god knows what that pervert wished to see but i was deeply upset. Out of fear, i havent spoken about it, however not only am i writing a review now but i will contact the head office as this is unacceptable. Are these the people sainsburys are hiring now?

Needed to use the loo before doing some shopping. You have to negotiate a maze of barriers to get to the Loo. Then you need to get a member of staff to open a barrier because you do not yet have a receipt to scan. This is insanity. What happened to common sense?

Sainsbury's unfortunately has replaced all but a few checkouts, this is a very unwelcome change. The self service areas get extremely busy. Very off putting,I now avoid Sainsbury's Edgware as much as possible. On the positives it is clean, tidy and a large amount of the staff are friendly and helpful. The free from section is quite large so that's a bonus for us. Large parking area, but not sure for how long as there are horrendous plans of building works .

Sainsbury’s at the Broadway Shopping Centre is a well-rounded supermarket that meets almost all shopping needs under one roof. From the moment you walk in, the store is organised, clean, and easy to navigate, making the shopping experience smooth and efficient. The fruit and vegetable section is always well-stocked, featuring a good balance of everyday essentials and seasonal produce. Everything appears fresh and is carefully presented. Adjacent to this section, the in-store bakery is a real highlight, offering freshly baked bread, pastries, and cakes that smell amazing and taste even better. The meat and poultry counters are reliable sources for high-quality cuts, while the fish section consistently offers a decent selection for mid-week meals or weekend cooking. The deli counter is great for grabbing sliced meats, cheeses, and quick lunch bites, adding a personal touch to the shopping experience. A wide range of yoghurts, cheeses, milk, and plant-based alternatives is available. Sainsbury’s excels in this area, accommodating various dietary needs, whether you’re looking for lactose-free, organic, or vegan products. The frozen section is extensive, covering everything from quick family dinners to party snacks and desserts, making it convenient for stocking up for the week. Dry goods abound, with shelves full of pasta, rice, sauces, canned foods, cereals, and international items. I appreciate that they also stock healthier choices and their "Taste the Difference" range, which offers premium options without the need to shop elsewhere. The drinks section is diverse, featuring juices, soft drinks, wines, beers, and spirits. The wine selection is impressive, with many affordable options as well as some finer bottles for special occasions. Everything you would expect – from cleaning products and toiletries to baby essentials and pet food – is readily available. It’s genuinely a one-stop shop for all household needs. This Sainsbury’s also stocks TU clothing, providing affordable and good-quality fashion for men, women, and children. Seasonal homeware items make appearances as well, which is a nice bonus. The staff here are approachable and helpful, whether you’re struggling to find something or need assistance at the tills. The self-checkout machines work well, and even when it’s busy, the queues move at a reasonable pace. Overall, Sainsbury’s at the Broadway Shopping Centre is more than just a supermarket – it’s a convenient and reliable store where you can comfortably complete your weekly shopping in one visit. Prices are fair, quality is consistent, and the variety makes it stand out. I highly recommend that you stop by if you are ever in the Edgware area.

Probably one of the worst run sainsburys in the country . Hardly anyone one the tills staff are quite happy to stand around talking and not helping customers. Trying to speak to someone in authority, well don't bother, they're not interested in getting anything done either.

Great supermarket, always easy to shop and find what I need, and use the SmartScan app. Could probably do with moving the beggar that seems to constantly be right at the exit blocking your way and hassling you for money every day.

Lady called mita is the worst person I have spoken to. 0 customer service skills. First she tried to refuse me to speak to the manager.after I insisted she finally called him. Wow didn’t exact this from sainsbury

If (some) staff at this store lead such sad, pathetic lives and need to get their kicks from making derogatory and insulting comments about customers, may I suggest they at least wait until the customer is out of earshot or has left the store so cannot hear them. I was shopping at this store over the weekend and had a pleasurable experience - until checkout. The cashier was an Asian male and not someone I had seen before. He was either new, a temp during Christmas or taken off another department to work on the tills during the busy festive period. I requested to pay for my shopping, almost entirely, in accumulated Nectar points and this seemed to rile the cashier. I assume out of jealousy. After packing my shopping and starting to walk off, I heard the cashier in conversation with another member of staff. They were talking in Gujarati/Hindi but, being Indian myself, I could fully understand what was being said. The topic was me and was both derogatory and insulting. I was effectively called a "cheapskate" for simply redeeming some Nectar points.

I always feel cheap and taken advantage of when I enter a Sainsbury's. I mean they're all the same. Vegetables are not very good. Whiskey selection is reasonable. Stuff is always pretty bland and low in quality. Food choices are poorly curated and lack ambition. Favour brands and own range over better options - their take is what I'd describe as corporate food. They'd say they offer choice and value but they offer neither of those really. Their choices have no heart and soul. Nothing there that is above average, not a hell of a lot that is even good, across the entire range. British corporate bureaucracy at is best/worst.
