How it gets a 4 i dont know. If i could give a zero i would. I've been living in Runcorn my whole life, im now coming up to 33 years old, in 33 years the swimming pool hasnt changed, the lockers or changing rooms have never changed, its minging, dirty and looks like you could leave there picking up an illness. For the reception staff, I can't fault them. They were brilliant. So helpful. So for that they would get a 5 themselves but for this review is based on overall experience of the pool and facilities its lucky that it gets a 1. Why do children have literally every slot. They have swimming lessons all day. Which means adults cant swim in the day, then the kids have more swimming lessons after school. Which again means nothing for the adults. Then when you go to the GENERAL SWIM, guess what? KIDS AGAIN!. Kids kids kids. WHY?!. Then when the kids go in there they dont even swim they just piss around take all the lanes up so normal people who do want to SWIM can't. What is the point of having lifeguards or staff if its the kids who are in charge not the adults. I swam 1 length no exaggeration 1 length, and left. I told the young girl there "Is it always like this?" To which she laughed and said "oooo its always like this always caos" well i personally didnt find it amusing. Im just so glad my payment didnt go through for the month. I do understand they have adult swim but the times are so unrealistic and somewhat of an insult. The person who has made these times 7.30 or even 8.30 till 10 everynight clearly doesnt have a clue what their doing. It does need someone with money to come in knock the place down demolish it and build a brand new one. Its just a shame because I live in Runcorn and now I'm having to go to a different town to use more time and more of my money. All i can think is the gym needs money so they put on 100 kids school swims everyday. Basically in a nut shell it needs knocking down.

Just started early morning swimming, part of my physiotherapy. Not too busy. Somedays they have the pool sectioned off into slow, medium and fast lane so really helps when you are just starting out or just a slow swimmer like me

Fantastic pool amazing staff, you just need a referee in there not a lifeguard

Hired a room for my daughter's 1 year birthday party. Worth the money for what you get

Great pool great staff ok adies changing room swimming side requires deep clean

  2. Rachel Parkinson ★★☆☆☆

Staff are lovely, but the hygiene it awful in the swimming changing rooms. Scummy, greasy walls in the showers, dirty floors, bad smell of urine throughout as well as dust and spores in the showers! Not great for anyone that may suffer with asthma. Or let alone anyone, I think I might try and attend Runcorn baths as often as I can.

Very good swimming pool. It's big (maybe 25 x 10 m), but the first half is shallow enough for children age 6 or above to stand safely on their own*. The water always seems to be a decent lukewarm temperature - warm enough that you don't wince when entering and cool enough that your muscles don't overheat once you start swimming more energetically. Staff are nice and the pool and surroundings have always been clean when I've visited. I've never seen it busy during public swimming times (at most 6 other people there), which is surprising considering how good it is. I expect that people don't know that the pool exists or how to reach it. It's in the Brookvale Leisure Centre and you can reach it using the buses which go through Brookvale to/from Runcorn Shopping City (from shopping city to the leisure centre is about 12 minutes by bus).
