The absolute worst leisure centre ran by Manchester active this side of Manchester. The staff are really poor, I had my child join Gymnastics lessons and Swim lessons and they really are awful, the staff teaching them are absolutely shocking the way they talk to the children and theres no structure or progress. I did put a complaint in after my child became upset about the way a swim teacher was talking to her, and had a basic reply from callum tongue that did NOT resolve anything and with a poor excuse that staff complete a 50 week training course, this cant be true or its really poor training, I cancelled the gymnastics as it was extremely poor and the kids where stood about bored. And after 9 months of swim lessons with about 11 different teachers and no progression or structure theres absolutely no point, my daughter loves swimming but says the teachers nasty and she doesnt want to go anymore and shes only 6! With my complaint being ignored I have now cancelled my childs swim lessons, the worst of the worst I would definitely avoid any of the childrens lessons its a complete waste of money and time, and putting a complaint doesnt help as the managers just ignore it. Avoid at all costs

The library is a great place. Clean, employees are always busy dealing with customers and a lot of community groups seem to congregate here. Exactly as a library should be. It reminds me of a library I went to in Ireland: a good sense of community. I've only used the swimming pool once and everything is as you'd expect, swimming pool on point and clean. Highly recommended.

I currently pay for two memberships at £39 each at this 'community gym'. However, several ongoing issues are making it difficult to feel that the membership offers real value. The £3 fee for each class cancellations within four hours is discouraging and doesn’t reflect an understanding of members’ reallife schedules. Combined with a limited and repetitive class timetable, it feels like we’re being charged extra without being given enough choice or flexibility in return, no variations just mostly dance classes and not enough allround Access to training spaces is also restricted. The back room is kept closed outside of classes, which means there’s no open mat area for stretching or functional work. Most of the dumbbells are locked away, further limiting what members can actually use. Cleanliness is inconsistent, and in the women’s gym the Stairmaster has been broken for months with no updates or repairs. For a facility that encourages community engagement, these maintenance gaps are noticeable. I am checking other gyms this would mean traveling further away and this is upsetting.

There’s not one good class in the evening except Tuesday spin at a decent time. All dance and Zumba. One spin class at 8pm at night!! Not enough body conditioning or strength. Prioritise good classes, strength classes starting from 5pm onwards for those who have been at work all day and don’t have the luxury of coming in the day time. Too much consideration given to people who come to day classes and then aqua and dance in the evenings and have the luxury of doing them at 6pm… Put aqua and dance last! Too much inexperience too. It shows.

I really look forward to Nicole's aqua class on a Thursday evening. I love that every week she does something different and not the same routine. I love the music she's plays which keeps you going throughout the work out. She if very informative. She gives you easier options or harder options. She always introduces herself to the class and tells you which part of the body you're working on durning each exercise. Nicole's is always energetic, I don't know how she does it!

I wish they would give as an update on what’s happening to the refurbishment, as this was a leisure centre that catered to the wider community. It was cheap and had a ladies section. Would be really helpful to find out any updates.

I used to love the gym and everything as it was. This stupid refurb had affected alot of people. This gym was the only one in the area that was affordable and had a women's area and the only one with equipment in the women's area worth using! Broughton gyms female area is shockingly bad and is way more expensive. I'm so sad at how long it's been closed and barely any way of finding an update. What a disappointment.

Small gym. No one, not even the staff, put the weights away or tidy up. Very old equipment. No air-con during summer. Dirty, smelly showers and changing rooms. Very expensive for what it is and the price has just gone up! Only one receptionist seems friendly and a people person; the rest seem unhappy and have heard them be quite snappy to people. Short opening hours at weekends. The good is that during the morning and afternoon the gym is very quiet even on a weekend. The sauna and steam room are the only things I will miss from this centre. Only go here if PureGym is too far for you to travel to, otherwise wait until it gets refurbished at some point.

My rating for this centre has gone from 4 stars to 1. I had some issues before, but it was nothing major. Today as a regular customer who pays montly subscription I was sent home twice with kids and wasn't allowed on the swimming pool due to lack of staff, apparently during the school holidays, where the centre should be prepared for extra volume of customers. I wasted my time and the kids were disappointed. I understand everything but I do not understand the manager's reaction to my problem. The manager wasn't bothered to help me and kept saying there is nothing what can be done. Manager seemed to have a lack of basic managerial skills, which will enable him to find a solution to issues and problems, and did not care about customers at all. Lack of lifeguards on the swimming pool today (school holidays)was apparently due to them being too expensive to hire, according to the manager. The about 250 m2 pool with one lifeguard has been able to accomodate 25-30 people for over 3 hours and no one else was allowed. Reception staff which usually are helpful here today did not even bother to find any solution to my problem and sent me home twice. They refused to call a manager for me , who I had to chase myself. Poor management in my opinion, staff are probably not at fault but could try to understand regular customer's frustration in such situations. The only thing, after today's experience I am happy about in this centre are the swimming instructors, well qualified, kind and helpful.
