What a great venue. Such a warm welcome, and friendly atmosphere. Played our first gig there frva long time, and it was super relaxed, and I think most enjoyed it. We certainly did. Bands on frequently, a great vibe!
Very good pub about fifteen minutes walk from Wakefield Westgate railway station. Four cask beers on handpump when I visited including a cherry chocolate milk stout. Very friendly staff and clientele. The Red Shed is an old army hut that has survived the redevelopment of the area. As well as housing the Wakefield Labour Club, the Red Shed is home to many trade union, community and charity groups. There are two rooms of which one can be hired for functions. An extensive collection of trade union plates and badges is displayed over the bar together with numerous Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) awards adorning the walls.
Great live music, good atmosphere, friendly, excellent value and choice at the bar.
One of the best places I’ve ever been. Ok so a visit to the shed has been on my list ever since I learned about it from Mark Thomas years ago, but suffice to say this fantastic little gem of a bar exceeded even my high expectations. Finally in Wakey for work I got my visit to the shed. The warmest welcome I could have asked for. On my jack jones, walked in, bought the first of several great beers and was welcomed to a thoroughly wonderful evening of chat, laughs and camaraderie. If you’re in Wakefield and you don’t go to the red shed I can only assume that you are clearly barmy Keep the red shed standing here
Wakefield's Socialist club venue for meetings and concerts. Very welcoming, just walked off the street on a quiet Saturday afternoon and had a good selection of cask ale to choose from. In the current CAMRA Good Beer Guide (2023) Worth a visit if you are just passing and you'll be supporting a Wakefield institution.
What a friendly place, only 3 real ales on the bar but the choice was good.
Went for to see Ellur in the function room, which was compact, but made for a great intimate atmosphere. My friend bought a beer and a coke and didn't get his receipt. When his card statement came through, he'd been charged £35!! As he had no proof, he had no comeback with his bank or the venue. This retrospectively spoiled what was otherwise a great evening.
