2 years and still going strong having fun, every single Thursday. From The out take Martin, with his '' Does not miss a thing eye'' even when you hide behind everyone!! His wit, for those that have a sense of humour; are in the right place :) This is a place for people having FUN and those take things not too seriously; but are shown the BEST Dancing. People travel from all over the world; to this World class establishment and also those that are lucky only live a half an hour away! Thanks to all of Martin's fantastic team and of course Lynne. I've been thinking for a while whether to write this review or not but here I am... Me and my husband booked to attend a class at the start of December 2024. The class that we'd joined started very early on in the year so we were asked to sit and observe instead (which is what we were told new joiners do when they first join) which wasn't an issue as our payment got transferred to the following week's class. Two weeks later, we then attended another class. This class commenced later on in the year so we were hoping that we'd have more of a chance to "catch up". We don't have any prior dancing experience so found it really difficult and we were watching other people's footsteps the whole time. This wasn't a problem though as they were going to start a new class on 7th January 2025 anyway so we'd planned to join that in the New Year instead. During this second class though, we did the Quickstep and had to count 1,2 etc. As I mentioned before, I have no previous dance experience so counting 1,2 and trying to remember the steps was hard! The dance teacher Martin then came over to me to demonstrate and said "can you not count 1,2? You can even count in Chinese if you want!" (I am Chinese). Whilst I understand that Martin may have been trying to add a bit of humour (as I've noticed he does throughout the classes), I thought this particular comment was racist and did not appreciate it being said to me infront of around 20 other couples in the room. It was humiliating. Despite the above, I didn't let it put me off wanting to join the new class in January. I did have a few questions just in relation to the first class and payment method so I emailed them prior to Christmas but didn't receive a response. I was hoping that the festive period may have been impacting response times and that I might get a response prior to the new class starting on 7th January. The class started yesterday and unfortunately, I got no response... It's a real shame as I've been wanting to join a dance class for a few years but was always afraid to step out of my comfort zone until last year and until I finally convinced my husband to go with me (he actually really enjoyed the class). The dance studio is based in Solihull and we live in Tamworth so not exactly local to us but was super keen to join and make it a regular weekly thing but sadly, it was not to be.
I attended the Aura Dance Studio last night for a beginners class. What a wonderful group of experts. Welcoming, friendly, patient, kind and incredibly talented. They each spent time with myself and my friend and were encouraging and great fun. In an hr with a packed class they fitted such a lot in and we learnt so much. It was very professionally run and a joy to attend. Thankyou so much.
I've been attending private tuition here for over eighteen months now. Due to work and other commitments, I am not the regular student I want to be (but in the near future, quite possibly!) but I have never been treated other than fantastically well by AURA, and can honestly state that their welcome, communications, standard of teaching is a joy to experience. Put simply, if you want to have fun with dance, or to take it super seriously and need a teacher to take you to that level, look no further. Martin Cutler runs a superb school and Lynne is a tremendous (and very patient) teacher!
Martin is wonderful and has made our first dance and father daughter dance for our wedding just magical. If you've got 1 left foot, or even 2 or 3, go to Aura dance studios and Martin will sort you out!
Absolutely love it, beautiful venue and very supportive to all the beginners. Kate and Michael are not only great teachers but make all the classes such a joy! Will go again and again!
AURA dance studios is a full-time dance venue. At almost any time of day or day of the week you can dance or exercise in any of the 3 dance studios. Classes are offered most evenings from beginners to advanced dancers. Classes for children or adult, for social dancers or for competitors. Professional qualification can be prepared under the guidance of the very highly qualified and experienced staff. This is a family business where nothing is too much trouble and all dancers are welcome. Run by champions, producing champions and 1000s of Happy social dancers.
My wife and I have been attending a beginners course for 4 months and have had the most fantastic time being under the care of the whole teaching team at Aura. We were both filled with trepidation about learning to dance but the team, led by Martin, take great care to put you at ease and the whole experience has been fun and much easier than we expected..
My partner and I have taken part in the beginners dance classes, and can honestly say it has been a fantastic experience. I have to no prior dancing experience, but the staff are brilliant in helping people of all abilities to learn to dance, and the best part about it is how fun they make it along the way! I can't recommend this place highly enough
