    My daughter is currently having drum lessons with Martin and she absolutely loves them. she's progressing so much faster than I'd imagined and this is testament to the great teaching quality and personal skills Martin shows.     I have been playing the drums around 18 months now, having received a gift voucher for my 21st x 2 plus 10 birthday! I was apprehensive when I first started, especially being a ‘slightly’ older student but Martin has been fantastic. I have always wanted to play the drums but never really had the opportunity when I was younger; I chose the piano instead. NOW, well, there is no stopping me. Martin is extremely encouraging, supportive and patient, especially on a Friday afternoon when my brain is tired after a busy week. Whilst I don’t plan on taking any exams (I have been there and done that with the piano), I still want to push myself as far as possible so my lessons with Martin are a mixture of exercises / rudiments and songs I enjoy, which does include some exam music. I am playing grade 5 songs, which I am thrilled with and I know I would not have reached this level without the commitment, support and excellent teaching from Martin.

He is the real deal- cultivating confidence, skill and passion in his students. Here’s what our son, his student in his second year of study says: “he’s a brilliant teacher, and is always helpful. Every lesson I leave with a smile on my face and drum beats in my head to take home and practice. He’s a really nice guy too” . Halifax Drum School is a real local treasure for budding musicians of any age.
