99% of the tutors were fab, but that 1% tutor let me down! I did electrical installation and somehow managed to pass, but I really struggled with the science part, the tutor who taught this, I don't remember his name but he still works there, bald and always talked about when he was in the army! I asked a question on why something was, his response.... because it is! Now 9 years down the line, I have been out in for the 2391 exam, guess what i passed all but the science part! The science is failed because he failed to help me understand! This man is no good and because of him, im under so much stress and who knows what will happen to my job, because I did not pass! You can thank him for failing me!!

It's my Daughters second year at Hillsborough college, she's an extremely intelligent young lady who excelled at her GCSES and is passionate about fashion so decided to enroll into the fashion course. It has been the the most heartbreaking and probably the worst decision she has ever made. The students on this course have now lost 2 years of their lives, my daughters hopes and dreams of going to university have been shattered. She's not had a tutor this year and when asks if she can book a room to do work is told they don't have the funding! She has been forced to try and find resources herself so her and her fellow students can try to teach themselves! - they have no guidance, and have been advised to use chat gpt. They are currently working together to make a formal complaint to the office of independent adjudicator for higher education. I feel so deeply sorry for the massive injustice the students are receiving at Hillsborough college. Please please do your research before sending your child here. Any complaints to the college fall upon deaf ears

6 years of my beautiful life spent here in Sheffield college, with no hesitation. Poor my age to spent here, no achievement. Every single time failed! Why!!!!! Am I stupid and foolish? One year it is my fault two years my fault 3 years my fault! Every single time in the exam for GCSE ENGLISH I had bad experience and made a trouble for me exactly in the exam by disorganised management. I tried every single of class regarding with good self-study, always. But for 4 years I’m seeking to get one GCSE ENGLISH which is very unfair to be in the same level. I’ve studied more than 1,000 hours on my own. I’ve asked for help so many times because I truly want to pass. I need this qualification for my career and for university. I’ve been fighting for this for six years now, and it feels unbelievable how hard it’s been just to get one step forward. I’m not asking for an easy way out, I’m asking for a fair chance. I’ve given my full effort. I just need someone to see that and help me finish this journey. came to this country to build a future and be part of something. I don’t want to become another unemployed person in the community. I just want the opportunity to prove myself, to work, to grow — and to finally move forward. I feel deeply disappointed for my career and college. And I do not know what do I have to do. On the other hand, government criticise us that you don’t work. I wish I would never stepped in this college. Poor my young age to spent time there.

I am writing from a place of deep pain and disappointment about how my son was treated at The Sheffield College by his IT tutor, Kevin Ferguson. My son, who has autism and an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), started the college full of hope and excitement for his future. But within only two weeks, that hope was completely destroyed. The tutor and department failed to recognize his needs, offered no understanding or support, and treated him as if he were just another student — ignoring his autism and the clear guidance in his EHCP. The college received government funding to support him, yet not a single ounce of that support reached my child. Instead of patience and care, he was met with rejection, misunderstanding, and exclusion. Because the staff could not understand his communication differences, they judged him unfairly and pushed him out of the class and the college. The emotional damage this has caused is heartbreaking. My son’s confidence has been shattered; his spirit broken. What happened to him at Sheffield College has left a deep scar in his soul. He has now lost all interest in education and says he never wants to go back. He has locked himself away at home, feeling worthless and defeated — all because those who were meant to help him failed to show understanding or compassion. This should never happen — especially in a place that promises inclusion and understanding. I was asking for the college to take this seriously, to investigate what went wrong, but only pointless couple of meetings to inform us their decision in their own favour not my son.

Awful. The college doesn’t care about the students and will even blame you for doing all your work on time and for having 0 work to do. I chose a course here (it was a level 3 diploma for IT) because I was told on their website that I would be doing a computer games development course (which is something I am heavily interested in) only to get told that we aren’t doing it. We also were supposed to have a trip to the National computer museum last November which we were told 3 days before the trip that it wasn’t happening because the college forgot to book any transport. Also in my 1st year, we were forced to resit an entire exam because the college somehow “lost” our exam results. The college doesn’t care about the students and only cares about what will make them money. The higher ups are acting like headless chickens and need replacing before this joke of a college goes bankrupt. It’s not fair on any students dedicating 2 years of their time to a college where the staff do not care. The teachers are amazing and actually have knowledge about the subjects they are teaching but they do not care about tutoring any of the students.

Awful college, had nothing but bad experiences with both my sons going there. The first instance he kept phoning to find out when he started back and they kept on saying they would let him know. He’d emailed, phoned and physically been in several times. No one got back to him then when someone finally bothered to contact him they hadn’t told him he needed to re enrol to carry on with the same course he’d been doing for the past year. My second son did engineering and construction here and they told him he’d failed the course and lo and behold he’s just received his certificate with two level 3 BTECS passed with Distinctions! Do not bother sending your sons and daughters here. Send them somewhere that cares. The campus itself is like a prison and the staff are horrible.

Electrical installation - tutors are amazing can’t fault them. However the student support team are an actual joke. All over the place there’s no organisation at all in the offices can’t even give people bare minimum of a response. Or even respond to a complaint form. They also fob you off in person. Fire them all and get new staff in your offices because they seem to be acting like headless chickens walking around aimlessly as the best way to describe it. Basically getting paid to sit around all day twiddling their thumbs and looking at previous reviews I’m not the only one who’s noticed.

I did access to science courses, I truly enjoyed it. Brian Jackson is the best teacher. Help is there available. The Access course in Sheffield college was the best decision I made.
