Breakdown call out and the guy that turned up was absolutely amazing. Not only did he go above and beyond to not only support me but also took care of my little boy who has autism. I had to be took to a garage and when he saw just how upset I was by triggering past events he offered to leave the van with me , take the car and get a taxi back so I didn’t have to drive the car. With his patience and prep talk I did manage to drive crawl to a garage with him following me in the van. He sorted everything for me at garage and took me and my little boy home in the RAC van which made my boys day. Sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most and I would never have managed to do it if it wasn’t for him.

Awfull service we waited over 27hours for the brokedown vehicle to be towed and the vehicle was on a may road in the city centre. They still did not turn up we ended up arranging something ourselves to get the vehicle towed. I put in a complaint with there response being we feel we have resolved the issue and have closed the complaint! Nothing was resolved and vehicle was never recovered by the RAC. Will not be using RAC have cancelled there cover and gone with another firm AA who have been fantastic so far.

Broke down on M1, south of J23. Took 3hrs for the RAC to arrive. They then refused to tow my car stating it was unroadworthy. My car has a current MOT certificate, however the RAC stated the front tire was below the limit. I had to agree to a private tow firm and pay the towing fee. Broke down at 9:30am did’t get home until after 3pm, just 48 miles from home. A disgraceful level of service.

Awful service. Needed the RAC today as car brokedown. Was told that they would be be a patrol in 4 to 6 hours. Then received a text saying they were that busy that wouldn't be attending until the following day. Nearly 24 hours after I contacted them. I replied to text saying I wasn't happy. I received a message back saying thank you, a patrol will be attending tomorrow. Not once was there any human contact. I will be cancelling my membership. Would not recommend to anyone.

From breaking down at 1130am the RAC attended within an hour and a half... not too bad. When recovery was required and onward travel requested (which was included in my policy) the RAC left my partner, 6 month old baby and I stranded at the side of the road for a further 8 and half hours. Not good enough. NEVER BUY COVER FROM THE RAC.

Make what you will of the following sequence of events: 17/12 initial breakdown, RAC contractor attended, said the car needed to go to a garage. I am 220 miles away from home. 18/12 car collected by contractor. Job marked as complete and delivered to my garage. 19/12 car and key missing. Garage have not received it. On ringing the RAC, they have no idea where my car is and cannot get hold of the contractor who took it. 20/12 RAC finally find my car dumped at a services approx 150 miles from home with the key inside a shop in the services. Report it won't be collected until 28/12. I have organised my own recovery at a cost of Β£300. RAC call handler completely unapologetic and has no idea if I'll be reimbursed. Absolutely speechless.

If I could give 0 stars I would! I have never know a worse service in all my life, leaving my car in the middle of nowhere for 30 hours and counting so far with no updates and no care in the world. I have spent 5 hours of my afternoon on hold only for the customer service agent to hang up on me on purpose. The RAC happily left me for 11 hours yesterday evening in the freezing cold in an unlocked car before even attempting to help, at 12:40am I was finally picked up by a taxi that I had to fight for with my car still now left on the side of a road with no ETA in sight. You should be ashamed as a business. For anyone thinking of going with RAC please think again. I have now heard from others that Green Flag are the cheaper and more customer centric option.

Have had key cover for years, never had to use it. Until now. Car is at my workplace. Call handler Took details the told me I had to supply my v5c document and insurance, fair enough. I can get the insurance documents but the v5c is at home. I'm them supposed to email these over and someone will come out and sort my key in 24 hours!! How am I supposed to get home and get the v5c. Then wait 24 hours for RAC to pull their finger out. After leaving me for 9 hours in broken down car in Edinburgh last year, I was not going to renew my cover, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt, due to pandemic issues. By Making getting a replacement key awkward and unhelpful, has tipped me over the edge now. After coming off the phone to RAC, I called honda and they are replacing the key at a cost of Β£325. Honda sent out their mechanic to do it, he was here in 45 minutes and sorted me a new key. , Money wasted on RAC.

Recently took out breakdown cover with RAC, broke down this morning called to be advised because I was a 5 minute drive from home 20 minute walk I wasn’t covered without taking out the at home breakdown. I wasn’t happy as I wasn’t at home and stuck on a busy junction with my 2 year old in the car but agreed to upgrade my cover. Call was booked and passed me though to customer services that advised I would have to pay a Β£40 admin charge to upgrade! I can get the car recovered for this and asked that the call out be cancelled. 2 hours later I receive a call saying the engineer was 20 mins away again advised them I did need them as the AA had been recovered the vehicle and mechanic had started repairs. JUST GO WITH AA GUYS! I have already cancelled my DD and taken cover out with AA. Never ever again will I take out RAC cover.

Truly horrific service up until the recovery driver arrived. Broke down at 5:45pm and was sent half hourly updates telling me I'd need to wait for another 30 minutes. These updates stopped at 10pm, at 11:30 pm I called to be told I would be waiting until 2am and did I want to cancel recovery. Obviously I didn't. When the driver arrived at 1am he advised he that he was on the way to me a couple of hours ago but was told the job had been cancelled and was diverted elsewhere. Mobile mech was amazing and had me towed to my garage. If I could separate the mechanic from the service I would give them five stars for roadside help and zero stars for service. I will be cancelling my cover.
