I’ve had uncomfortable experiences at the Bluewater store caused by one male staff member who is a tall bold haired Australian. Every time he serves at the till , he has deliberately handed me the receipt in such a way that his hand touches mine. This is not accidental; it is done intentionally and is very predatory which makes me extremely uncomfortable. It’s not acceptable for customers, especially women, to be made to feel uneasy during a simple shopping trip. This kind of conduct is unacceptable and should not be tolerated in any workplace. Although Lakeland management need to address this issue, I doubt that they will, so I urge every female customer who visits the store and sees this man serving at the till to be extremely cautious. Quite frankly it would be in the interests of female customers if Lakeland came into the 20th century and installed self service tills so that female customers are not forced to endure this kind of unwanted and inappropriate physical contact.

I’ve always loved Lakeland stores, but I’m disappointed to say, since this branch of Lakeland moved location within the Bluewater shopping centre, it’s just not the same anymore. It’s now quite cramped and uncomfortable to move around. My friend uses a wheelchair and had to navigate the lift to explore the top floor. That’s fine, but it was a bit of a deterrent for her. It’s not just the store though, it’s the customer service and care. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had positive experiences with customer service and care in this branch, but not consistently. I think the buying process is relatively positive, but if anything needs to be returned or isn’t working as it should, it’s a totally different matter. You’re met with a defensive attitude and the smiles fade. It’s as if the staff are taking it personally. No, they shouldn’t, as it’s an issue with the product itself, not the staff. The returns process is uncomfortable. You stand in stony silence while the return is processed, feeling guilty for daring to return a Lakeland product. I’d taken photos of my product failing to work and I’d repackaged the item, but the return was still processed with a degree of reluctance and negativity. This is Lakeland though, with its three-year guarantee for every product, so I shouldn’t really have been made to feel this uncomfortable. Regarding another matter with a product that my friend had had a sensitivity reaction to, our conversation with the staff member was met with defence, indifference and denial. We were so concerned about the safety of the product, especially as there was an allergy reaction warning on the back of the container, as well as the staff member’s disinterested attitude, I contacted the main customer services department to make a verbal complaint to address staff training. I appreciate that there was a warning on the container, but the staff member in the store couldn’t have been less interested or concerned, which was upsetting. These experiences in this branch have affected how I now feel about Lakeland, especially this branch in Bluewater. I used a Lakeland product this evening which didn’t perform particularly well, but following my negative experience when returning a product, there’s no way I’d attempt to return it to this particular store.

We had bought an air fryer about a year ago but unfortunately had a problem with it and needed to return it. I phoned the store and spoke to a lady whose name was Caroline, I told her the problem and she apologised and then asked if I had the receipt so that I could return the product. I had not kept the receipt but instead of that being the end of the matter she asked for the details from my Lakeland card and then trawled through the system and found my purchase. As I could not get to the store that day she said that she would leave the details at the tills and inform her colleagues. I went to the store the next day and on speaking to a member of staff at the till, (sorry I did not take her name but on a new till receipt her operator number is 5180088) and she was aware of me coming in. I returned the product without any quibble and when I asked for a straight swap, although I wanted to change brands and pay extra, she advised me to take a refund instead and then buy the new product so that I got the full 3 year warranty which I did and then she told me that I had a £30 voucher on my card which I did not know and used to complete the purchase. The customer service that I received and the friendliness of both members of staff was excellent and I would formally like to congratulate them and the store in a manner that in my opinion went above and beyond what they could have done. Before retirement I worked in retailing for some 36 years and put great value on customer service. Kind regards Robert Holmes

We had an outstanding experience at the Lakeland store in Bluewater thanks to the incredible service from Michael. He helped us choose a Lakeland air fryer and even took the time to demonstrate how it works, sharing some great recipe ideas to get us started. When we mentioned the car was quite a distance away, he kindly let us borrow a trolley to make things easier. Truly the best service we’ve ever received from a store colleague — Michael went above and beyond, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Highly recommend both the store and the product!

Appears small but over two floors, even so I think its smaller than Lakeside. Third only to Roy's of Wroxham. Fairly well stocked and very neat and tidy. Looks very colourful and exciting. We waited ages to pay despite being the only customers. The lady walked away just as we got to the till and stayed away!

If you are looking for high quality kitchen utensils this is most definitely the place. They have everything from cake storage containers to super sharp Japanese knives and some really clever stuff too. Staff are really polite and helpful and if they haven't got it in stock you can order it in store for a delivery to your home address. It was absolutely packed with customers today when we were in there which is testament to how popular this place is. Thoroughly recommend this shop, well done to all the staff.
