Unbeknown to us, our freezer stopped working and we lost about £200 worth of food. Ah, ah I thought, our content insurance covers fridge contents upto £250 so I made the call. I was told we had to pay £250 excess and we would lose our no claims? What’s the point of insuring it upto £250 if the excess is £250? Other companies have no excess on freezer contents, although I’ll probably never need it again, it tell me a lot about the insurer so I’ll not renew.

One star as your not able to give no stars! I have had tourer insurance with Safeguard since 2018, today I tried to change the storage details of our tourer and they wanted to charge £25 just to change an address. Clearly they have no regard for loyal customers. I will be looking elsewhere upon renewal.

Not to be trusted. Set up a home insurance policy, only to find out that the direct debit was not setup so my policy was cancelled without any warning or correspondence. When I made contact and asked for my deposit to be refunded I was told my policy hadn’t been cancelled, then I receive a letter saying my policy would be cancelled because a direct debit had not been setup, lots of backwards and forwards turns out a deposit was taken and a policy not set up. So asked for my deposit to be refunded. 10 days later I received a payment which was less than my deposit. This all occurred during 4 days of doing the policy online. I’m glad i left this company, making a claim may have caused them to implode.

Just bought home insurance for my dad, and trying to set up an account to see policy documents is impossible. I have had to try and change my password at least 20 times and it keeps saying no account recognised. Have I been conned, I would have rather paid a tenner more for less hassle

Beware ! We applied and received via safeguard online our insurance and breakdown cover for our 1990 Hymer Motorhome . We broke down in the south of France on a motorway and subsequently found out we didn’t have break down cover as our Motorhome was more than 20 years old ! Nowhere during the quote process or in the policy does it state our vehicle has no breakdown cover . In fact The quote actually confirms we have break down cover ! The predicament we were left in as a result was so stressful and had it not been for our own financial resources we would have been completely stranded ! Date of experience: November 01, 2022

Had tourer caravan cover for years...this year I needed to claim as got caught in flash floods in France. Safeguard refused to pay/replace items in the awning as stated only awning itself is covered and its unsafe to leave things in awning anyway! Ridiculous, I had flood damage cover but apparently this only covers the caravan.

Great price insurance for out campervan with AA cover included which we did use once. Never made a claim but they were easy to deal with when sorting out renewals. When we sold our van we recommend Safeguard to the new owner.

Sent a renewal quote for £220 (40 more than last year), nagotiated £198 (only 18 more). Received a letter telling me that my renewal would automatically renew (and or they would call me for full payment, if I didn't want direct debit) neither happened and now they want £258! (plus I wasn't covered for a week) Shopped online and got better cover for less! Go direct, and cut out this greedy broker!
