I’m a member and was hoping that this would be the solution to the problem I have with getting a GP appointment but I’ve only used it once and wasn’t amazed by it. They told me that because it’s over the phone that I need to go to my doctors I thought the idea of this was that I didn’t have to go and wait two weeks to try and get a doctor‘s appointment. I could do it instantly booked to wait round for two hours during the day and then to speak to the doctor for a month to tell me that I need to go and get a doctor‘s appointment for them to see me as I think I’ve got a water infection Sort of not what I wanted In my pursuit for a solution to the fact that you cannot get a doctor‘s appointment, hopefully when I try again, they may be better and I will change this review if it works next time

Exceptional service received from the GP when I needed it the most. Gp very friendly understanding and helpful. The medication I was prescribed helped prevent my symptoms from worsening. Benenden have never let me down and been there in times I needed them most. I have used their services many times and got back more than what I have paid over the years. Thank you!

A complete scam. A waste of time, a deterioration in my health, and a total lack of professionalism and humanity. At first, they confirmed they would cover the costs of my surgery. After weeks of private appointments, and once the surgery date was confirmed, they said they would not cover the expenses. They also only work with clinics of their own choosing, which are another scam. They charge very high fees for private consultations, but in the end, you don’t even get seen — they just call you to ask general questions that have nothing to do with your specific health condition. I’ve saved all the emails and chats with them and I’m taking everything to my lawyer. Shame on them.

My husband and myself have a membership. Recently when my husband was experiencing severe backpain, I contacted Benenden hoping to obtain physio advice. The call handler was absolutely lovely and very efficient. She organised for my husband to receive private physio in the home in order to help get some movement back, which happened on the same day. Well over and above our expectations. Five star treatment.

Absolutely terrible experience. Been paying them for over 20 years never claimed. Had a hernia & the system with them is you do ALL the running round, from organising every step of your consultations with hospital. They are not helpful with the private hospital & won’t except calls from them only the patient? Very bad system couldn’t say any of my experience has been good in fact it’s been extremely stressful & I’m now not getting my operation when expected & still in serious pain. Please don’t use them, it’s been a complete nightmare!!!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I have required a simple MRI scan on my knee. I here sent away the doctors referral letter by post and email. I have had multiple phone calls and I am told there is nothing they can do to find out if the letter had been received. I am now entering my 4th week of waiting for a reply with minimal help. I am a school teacher and struggle to stand atm, really wanted the scan before returning to work but that won't happy now. Don't waste your money on this company.

I joined Benenden health around 7 months ago after a recommendation from a friend. On my 6th month of being a member I called Benenden to see if I was eligible for treatment. Within 4 Days, it had been approved and I was given a list of consultants to research and pick for my surgery. The process was easy, quick and efficient and without question they have paid for all my treatment. The service I received has been fantastic and I am unbelievabley grateful I have now had surgury at a brilliant private hospital with my surgeon of choice. Family member for 25 years. Needed to be referred to a consultant and I telephoned York to say that this was likely to take some time. Was asked that I contact my GP and after their NHS referral (which presumably was going to take forever) Benenden phoned to say that I would shortly be contacted by their consultant (in this case at Benenden Hospital which is local). It took about a month from my initial contact to be seen-- one cannot ask for more. Now to get the operation. Watch this space!

Cannot speak more highly. Twelve months after joining Benenden I contacted them to seek their help in leapfrogging the 5 month waiting list to see a Neurologist on the NHS. They could not have been more helpful. Within minutes on the telephone I had been assessed, approved, given details of Neurologists in my area and allocated a spend budget for my initial consultations. An email confirmation followed shortly thereafter. Three days later I was seen privately by a consultant at my local Nuffield hospital, who referred me for an MRI. I made another call to Benenden, who confirmed that this was covered in the budget. The MRI scan was completed two days later, followed by another visit to the consultant who confirmed his diagnosis and the course of treatment. What would have been a 5 month wait just for an initial consultation on the NHS, was all done and dusted in less than a couple of weeks. Thanks Benenden.
