I unfortunately had a very distressing experience when trying to get help for my poorly 10-month-old son. I called at 8am and was told I would receive a telephone appointment. After chasing at 2:45pm, I was told the doctor would be messaged. I chased again at 4:45pm and finally received a call at 5:20pm. Sadly, the doctor I spoke to was rude, did not listen to my concerns, and did not ask appropriate questions about my son’s condition. He stated that he would not see my son as he did not work at this surgery and told me to take him straight to A&E. When I asked if he had seen the messages, he said he was too busy to look. I then asked if he could arrange for a doctor who worked at the practice to call me back, which he refused, telling me to contact reception myself. This was extremely disappointing and upsetting, especially as a worried parent. However, I would like to praise Megan on reception, who completely turned the situation around. She welcomed me with empathy and professionalism, asked all the right questions, and went out of her way to speak to a doctor on my behalf. Thanks to her efforts, I was given an appointment for 6pm. My appointment was with Dr Ding, who was absolutely excellent. He apologised for the unprofessional phone call I had received, thoroughly examined my baby, provided clear and reassuring advice, and prescribed the medication my son needed. Both Megan and Dr Ding showed genuine care and compassion and truly put my mind at ease. I cannot thank Megan and Dr Ding enough for the outstanding care they provided during what was a very worrying day.

I want to highlight an experience I had at Loughton Health Centre that started out very upsetting, but was ultimately turned around by the kindness and professionalism of several staff members. I arrived for a blood test appointment I had booked through the online system, only to be told it wasn’t on their system. Whether this was an error on my part or a booking issue, the way I was spoken to by the male phlebotomist was completely unacceptable. He was rude, dismissive, and showed an unwavering unwillingness to help. I’ve been trying to get this test done for over three years due to my work schedule, and that I’m moving house in a few days so this was my last opportunity, so I even offered to wait hours or only be seen if there was a cancellation, but he showed no empathy or intention to problem-solve, he simply repeated “we don’t do walk-ins” in a robotic, unempathetic tone. I left the surgery tearful and feeling completely dismissed. I decided to go back in as I wanted to let someone know how he had spoken me, as it didn’t feel right. At this point, I want to highlight the incredible kindness and professionalism shown to me by the receptionist, Sima. She immediately saw how upset I was and genuinely listened. Without hesitation she spoke to Steph, a very kind phlebotomist, who then liaised with Kim, a wonderful nurse who managed to fit me in between her patients. Their compassion and willingness to help turned the situation around entirely. The blood test itself took less than 60 seconds in the end, which makes the male phlebotomist’s rigid refusal to help even more baffling. I am extremely grateful to Sima, Steph and Kim for their understanding and support — they are a credit to the health centre. But the behaviour of the male phlebotomist needs to be addressed. No patient should be spoken to in a way that leaves them in tears, especially when the issue could have been resolved so easily with a bit of basic empathy.

Visited the surgery today and saw Theresa the nurse who performed an ear syringe expertly. She was also very helpful with a few queries I had. Altogether a very pleasant experience.

I have had excellent care from both the doctors and support staff at this surgery since joining 11 years ago. The new online assessment is especially useful for non-urgent queries. Friendly, helpful and polite every time you contact the practice team.

It is big enough , modern, bright, comfortable, clean, tidy, hygienic and safe building that you nothing bad will happen to you. The staff are friendly, supportive, sociable, respectful, responsive, reliable, understanding, professional, well mannered, organised but can be better and punctual but can be better because they need to get used to the new system. To be honest since they are getting used to the new system and things will get better from there but I am willing to see get better for people who need blood test done at the request of another GP for different GP patients.

Very good surgery. Never had a problem with booking an appointment. Yes sometimes there are waiting times but in the end the doctors are very good and knowledgeable. Especially Dr Ding who is simply the best.

I've been with this surgery for around 8years, I'm always able to get an appointment, always met with friendly helpful staff and gp practitioners. Dr Smith is exceptionally helpful and has been really good with helping my daughters get through the winter flu. Also special mention to Megan on reception who has also been very helpful and lovely when my girls have been in the surgery, thank you xx

I recommend this practice. Doctors are all very good. Reception staff are always keen to help. This surgery is a good practice, I can get all my flu and covid jabs without any hassle. They also do minor surgery here It’s a great teaching practice and the students are all very good and helpful.

Although under pressure like most health services, the front desk staff at Loughton Health Centre have always been kind and informative over the phone. The doctors and nurses always act swiftly when I call and take my concerns seriously, treating me with patience, empathy and understanding. Dr Ding in particular has been excellent whenever I’ve called on behalf of my young child. He gives a lot of encouragement and guidance to ensure that his health is well looked after. I highly recommend them.
