Just had to use the new on line appointment booking system. Made my request at just after 8am. Within the hour I received a text from the doctor who said a request had been made to the pharmacy for painkillers. Ten minutes later I received a phone call giving me an appointment for the physiotherapist at the surgery for 4.20pm the same day. He gave me a request form for the walk-in GP X-ray clinic at Whipps Cross Hospital. Can’t complain about that!

These have been my Dr. for 25 years. Used to rate them highly. That has all changed after returning from Covid. Ridiculously long waits to speak to anyone, even when you are No. 1 in the queue, website which is absolutely substandard, whoever created it should be sacked, unless of course it was the Practice’s intention to put a system in place which, makes contacting them neigh on impossible. You have to call and wait for ages in order to get their email address, which surprise, surprise is not on their website and when they finally answer they give you it, it’s incorrect. So another huge wait again to get the info. Then turning it up for appointment made by the practice Pharmacist covering for the diabetic nurse and being told by a less than interested receptionist that there’s no appointment and didn’t want to do anything to double check. Instances of no call back after finally getting through the, tooth pulling process on your website and having to send a chasing message days later before anyone woke up and answered. If you happy to see a Dr. or nurse, then usually good experience, they desperately need to correct the system to enable appointments and communication (including their responses) with the Practice is easy not laborious and unhelpful.

This is the worst GP surgery I have ever been registered at!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. On two occasions now I have been left to wait for an hour and a half in the waiting area to then be told I couldn’t be seen, in both instances I asked the admin assistants why it was taking so long multiple times and they assured me I was “next”. Most recently this was because someone had left a note on my profile stating that I “couldn’t attend” my appointment despite me turning up on time. The issues here are indicative of a much wider systematic problem within the NHS I’m aware, but these people have given up trying completely. When I was 8 months pregnant I requested a fit to fly letter, I was texted by the GP (Dr Bashir) to come into the practice to discuss this. After over an hour of waiting, I was told that he cannot supply fit to fly letters as per new guidelines but that he thought it would be better to tell me in person. A complete lack of awareness and bedside manner. Please avoid this place at all costs and just register somewhere else if you can.

I visited the surgery to chase up two referrals from over 4 months ago, as it’s impossible to get through by phone. I was told no referrals have been made(!) and that I may need to make a new appointment to get the referrals. No apology for the surgery’s error. When I queried this, I was shut down by a rude member of staff who looked at me with contempt and said: “You’re not listening to me.” I explained to them I’ve been v unwell; the experience caused me additional stress for no reason. Manners and kindness don’t cost anything. Doctors / nurses are usually fine when you actually get to see one.

Fortunately I have been blessed as my experiences with this medical practice have been outstanding. Highly recommend Dr. Kazi and the Physio who have helped me immensely. At times it is hard to get appointments especially when you feel you really need to be seen however i have experienced that this is generally the case throughout Walthamforest. I have not had any negative experiences with receptionists although my interactions have been short and brief. Another bonus is it's not difficult to find parking and if your lucky you may get a space directly outside the medical practice. A massive Thank you to all the staff at Handsworth medical practice and God willing I will not need to see you anytime soon

Normally I don't complain, but, I am so fed up! with this service from Handsworth Medical Practice that I can-not stay silence any longer!!! I suffer from hypertension. Due to covid, the policy & procedure from this medical practice have changed. Not for the better! I may add. They stop your medication with out notice until they get a blood pressure reading. which is unacceptable! These are meant to be Dr's. I believe they swear by an oath: "To do no harm". This is bullcrap! There policy is to ring in at 08:00 am for an appointment regardless that the patient is at work & is unable to make phone call! The health system has gone down the toilet as far as I am concern. With all this technology that we have, you think they would put in place a system that you can contact & write up any medical info/ or slot in for an appointment that they need; through the web instead of relying on Phone calls to the receptionist, who seems to be the first call of port. This system is outdated! I am actually shocked! that I did not wait long on the phone, usually it takes 1/2 hour before anyone answers.

Been trying for ages to contact the test results team, no one answers and it goes straight to voicemail, and when I get through to anyone at the front desk they tell me I just have to leave a voicemail with the test results team. So I did that and have yet to receive a call back. I've just called again and they've told me that the only person who can tell me if my test results have come back is off sick, which is entirely different information to what I was told before. Why is there no one who can at least be able to tell me if my test result have come back in so that I can book an appointment with a doctor to discuss this?? I had my X-Ray done on the 13th December, I should be able to get a simple yes or no to know if they've been sent back by now.

I’m going to disagree with all the negative reviews here and say that Handsworth is a great practise doing its absolute best under very difficult circumstances. I’ve always managed to get an appointment when needed, yes sometimes the phone lines take a while but that’ll happen when 50+ people call at 8am on the dot. Highly recommend, especially for parents. And especially recently, there’s been so much compassion, and they’ve listened to my concerns without judging or dismissing them.

I have been registered here for 37 years and I must say it's is shame to see what this surgery has come too. So poor, I have been calling from 8am to book an appointment, automatically cut off, this is unexceptable. When you do going in the attitudes of the receptionist are appalling at this rate it makes no sense to stay here as if your in next of healthcare this is the place. Gone are the days of Dr Telish and Dr Myer. So poor it's unbelievable

The doctors are extremely professional and very helpful. However I do suggest they employ new receptionists who have experience. As the receptionists at the moment are extremely rude and unhelpful. Very poor service and giving the surgery a very bad name.
