Tried to hold off on writing a review, but the incompetenceness of this practice is too unreal not to. Submitted a fit note via their online form for my health conditions and got booked in for an early morning appointment without anyone speaking to me first about it if I was available. I missed that appointment, then got a text from the dr saying 'I tried to call you as planned..' what plan?! I phoned up to re-book and no word of an apology about it. Finally re-booked to an afternoon time I could do. During the telephone apt, I booked an in-person assessment with their Brasted practice (apparently only morning appointments exist at the Sevenoaks practice, as if the mornings are the only time of the day to do things). Then, not even a week later, got a random phone call which I missed and in the text message was left, it stated that the appointment '..had to be cancelled' with no further explanation as to why. Annoyed isn't even the word; I'm infuriated. THEN I'm trying to phone this afternoon just before 13:00 to re-book it, and they're closed for *wait for it*.. lunch. Two hours in fact - between 12:00 and 14:00. It was like this before, but they had removed this off their Google opening times and it isn't even on their website. Absolutely bloody useless. They're absolutely privileged having a two hour lunch break at work. My first attempt at switching over surgeries failed, but once I've got this in-person assessment out the way, I'll be ensuring it will not fail a second time.

I can't speak more highly of Amherst Medical Practice. I have been a patient for nearly 40 years and am always so impressed by the efficiency of the practice in processing requests for support. Interactions with the clinical team are always warm, front-footed and thoughtful. The online access systems, for those who are able to access them, allow me to communicate with the practice about a range of matters and get their input quickly. I feel very well looked after and am so grateful.

This is a similar review to a lot of the other reviews here, the reception staff are extremely rude and unhelpful. I was spoken to a very patronising and rude manner when I rang to try and book an appointment. The lady was unhelpful and it was like she was doing me a favour. I agree with other comments on here… Some of the staff in such client facing roles are in the wrong job with their lack of people skills, or they need some training in how to talk to client/customers.

My daughter attended A&E with an injured knee, X rayed, referred to clinic for MRI and told to see her GP for a referral. Treatment stopped when the smirking Amherst receptionist refused to give her an appointment. Have been with the practice for more than 20 years and it has got worse and worse. Ridiculously restricted appointment times listed on the telephone, GPs who are hardly there and high staff turnover. The GPs appear to respond to pay rises by reducing their hours. At a time when surgeries are striving to clear backlogs and see patients this place stands out as an exception.

Excellent service as always. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful with my requests. My inoculation was books for less than 24 hours hence. For the issue that needed a GP's authorisation she steered me to an online form which was very efficient.

I am rating this as 2 x stars as reception staff was very nice and helpful and this is the only nice thing about my visit this morning. I had to wait for 23 minutes to be exact for my appointment and the doctor I’ve seen was unbelievably rude to me. Didn’t apologise for running late and proceeded to have a casual chat about my day, no rush at all and when I said I was stressed out as I was late for work due to my appointment being late, he told me that I should just stop complaining and that I didn’t need to be there if I didn’t like it. I said I actually had to be there since I asked if this could have been done over the phone but was told I had to come in, even though it was routine appointment. They then proceeded to talk at me on and on and on about me having the wrong attitude until I finally asked if we could please start the appointment, so we did. I was late for work for the record and did not need someone berating me for saying they made me wait for the appointment for over 20mins. I sucked it up and sat there as I had no choice but to had it done and over with, so I didn’t have to come back. Absolutely horrible

My 81yo Mum was referred for a dermatology procedure at this practice. We went to her appointment, and were told by the consultant’s nurse that the consultant was running 45 minutes late. We were told that if we couldn’t wait, we could rearrange. When we tried to do this, we couldn’t find the nurse in question. I went to reception and tried to ask a receptionist where said nurse may be. She didn’t give me a chance to explain, and told me that if we weren’t waiting, we would be discharged and would have to be re-referred by our GP. When I tried to explain what the nurse had said, the receptionist decided to answer a ringing phone and speak to that person - leaving me standing at reception with no answers. I went and sat back down, and then overheard the three receptionists speaking loudly about MY attitude! I can’t comment about the GP’s, but the receptionists are disgustingly rude. So pleased this isn’t my surgery!!!!!

The receptionists are awful. Very rude, arrogant and miserable. They speak to you like they are angry that you called them to book an appointment. I’ve actually been stood in the reception area of this practice waiting to speak to a receptionist who let the phone ring out continuously while she had her non work related conversation with her colleague whilst also ignoring me. The doctors are fine but they need to replace all the receptionists for ones that actually sound like they care and enjoy their job!

I've been thoroughly impressed with Amherst Medical Practice since we moved here in July 2020. The quality of care is fantastic, I love that you're assigned a doctor and they continue your care so there's no re-explaining your history to multiple docs. I've had same day appointments on more than one occasion for my boys, and I always feel like the doctors really care. They are good at managing expectations re appointments/communications, and as a result I have never been dissatisfied with time taken to speak to a Doctor or hear back from a nurse or anything like that. Really well run.

I must say reading all the negative reviews, has really shocked me. I have been with this practise for about a year now. I have never had a problem getting an appointment. The receptionists can never do enough for me and are always so helpful. Dr White is currently helping me and I must say she is very thorough, always calls back if I need to ask advice and i instantly felt comfortable. Thank you. Some reviews have been quite rude…. But you cannot please everyone and I think those people must be very hard to please or woke on the wrong side of the bed!!
