We had hopes that our Mom would get the help needed to extend her life and treat her gastric cancer but unfortunately less than the bare minimum was done for her. She'd lost almost a third of her body weight before she was under care from the oncologist, and was knowingly growing weaker, and yet there was no intervention. Oncologist just suggested we wait and see if Mom could get better by eating more food at home, which, for someone who had grown so weak was a very disappointing strategy. The nature of her condition was that she could not tolerate sweet things, and all they could suggest for mom were Fortisips. We asked for other options to be explored and at first they decided to wait for a few weeks before they consider other options, which regrettably we did, and then they told us that it was too late to try anything else. We lost Mom about 1.5 months after, she fought hard and it would seem that with a little bit more effort she would have had more time here, with less suffering and a better quality of life near the end. Would sadly not recommend.

Amazing care , the NHS in general is getting a lot of negative press recently but I have nothing but praise for the care and kindness by shown to my husband during his ongoing treatment from all levels of staff there . You all do an amazing job . Thank you .

My husbands consultant is great can't fault him ,but some of the staff in the blood clinic need to learn about empathy and compassion . There is no need for rudeness and treating patients like they are a hindrance. The guy who works there is the only one who has any manners and kindness . Patients go through enough without having to deal with people like this sort it out

This hospital provided treatment to my late father who passed away Nov 2023 following 6 years of treatment. I cannot begin to tell you how grateful we are for having the opportunity to have this much time with him and that is thanks to the amazing staff here who were kind, compassionate and really listened to the patient receiving care. My dad was a massive fan of his Oncologist Mr Openshaw who always took the time to listen and NEVER gave up on him. He is an absolute credit to the Oncology department! His people skills are superb, not just to my dad but to everybody I saw him with. He never rushed appointments and always came up with a plan which is exactly what my dad wanted, involving all of the family too. Well done to the cancer centre and a special heartfelt thank you to Mr Openshaw, you are a very, very special man. There were many other wonderful nurses there too; the team really are fantastic!
