Very easy process to sort out all the paperwork was straightforward. The staff where very supportive from start to finish. I would definitely recommend Age Partnership if you are thinking of equity release. They give you unbiased information and are responsive to your questions. Immunisation was excellent at all stages.

A word of warning to anyone going down the equity release route who might, at some stage in the future, want to sell their house and port the mortgage - give Pure Retirement a wide berth. The company offer decent rates of interest, keep you up to date with what you owe and have a good customer services team - but they don't have their own solicitors and use a company called Enact, and that posed real issues when we decided to move to another part of Norfolk last year. We immediately contacted Pure about porting the money we had borrowed to our new property and were told we would have to pay a fee of £500, plus the cost of a survey. Fine, expected that. But six months later, and I should imagine around 25 calls to Pure, we were still waiting for the move to go through. There were other factors involved in our move eventually collapsing in December but Pure, or rather Enact's, lack of urgency, pedantic procedures and occasion poor service was a major reason we didn't move. So slow, and when they did act finding 'issues' which left our solicitors baffled. I haven't got room to go into all the details but here's an example. On the day of the move, when we were filling our van, Enact wanted a signed letter from Pure confirming we had paid the fee - something that had been done to get the procedure moving six months ago. Ridiculous. My advice to people looking at equity release would be to check that the company has its own solicitors. Pure's system is not customer friendly, or at least it wasn't with us. By the way, we complained to Pure, asking for some compensation for our problems, and received precisely zilch. So £500 was paid for extremely poor legal service.
