I have used Halesowen Engines on a few jobs, most recently to rebore the block, regrind the crank and recondition the cylinder head on my T5, they supplied all the bearings, gaskets and other items required. Steve and his team did an excellent job from start to finish. The price was very fair, the service was top-notch. Highly recommended!

There's a lot of issues I had with these guys, but I'm just going to state the main things I was unhappy with. They managed to ruin a low mileage engine, both Cylinder Head and Engine Block. I wanted to rebuild the engine with forged internals and a built valve train. So wanted a fresh Block and Head. So both were provided to them fully stripped down ready to hot wash before machine work. The engine block; sitting on the job for months (we're very busy, all that jazz). Admittedly I said no rush, because I wanted the job done right. Anyhow when I finally turned up to say I wanted the engine block back, I'll get it done elsewhere, they said it was off-site for work they couldn't do. Eventually they got it back and tried to charge me £1200 for a job that I was quoted £570 elsewhere (£180 for enlarging the threads, £390 for a 0.5mm bore over and hone). When I asked them to break down the quote, £400 of the £1200 was for CNC machining the threads to the next size up, which they advised they couldn't do so they sent it off-site to someone who could. I did not agree for them to contract out the work to someone else, I asked whether THEY could do it, they said yes. That leaves £800 for a cylinder rebore and hone. £133 per bore for 0.5mm over and a hone. Anyway, take a look at the picture of the work I got back. £1200 worth of work, on a bare engine block. Clearances were out so I rejected the work and got the money back. No compensation offered. BUT there was an offer for a discount on the cylinder head which we'll get to. The cylinder head; After the mishap with the engine block, they quoted £180 for the cylinder head. The work required replacing the valve guides I provided and re-cutting the valve seats. I get a phone call from them advising me that one of the valve guides I provided were a different size. Fair enough, I got them sent back to the manufacturer and they sent out the correct replacements within 2-3 weeks. Before the work was completed, they requested that I provide them with the rest of the valve train, so they could assemble the head for pressure testing, as there is an "EGR" system preventing them from checking the exhaust side. It can be pressure tested without them, it's just a bit more awkward. Anyhow, I played ball and provide them with the springs, collets and retainers. Got a phone call later to say that the cylinder head was all done, and ready to collect. Went to collect it, and John wanted to charge me £360 instead of the £180. So, here's the best part. 7 months later, I disassemble the head so I can replace the valve train with the upgraded items I had, and finally assemble the engine after a replacement engine block was sourced and ready (at my expense). I found one of the valve guide bosses was cracked and they'd JB welded it back in place. Picture provided of the work. My thoughts is they wanted to assemble the head to hide the damage. Phoned them up to ask them what it was, and they couldn't tell me. Sent some pictures in by email. Chased a couple of times. Radio silence since. Bare in mind, I emphasised numerous times "any issues, give me a shout" But the thing that made me laugh the most. After disputing the costs, John said to me over the phone after he quoted £1200 "we thought cost wasn't an issue by the way you was talking" That to me just sounds like they wanted to rob me blind! My advice? Do not use them.

Lifesavers! Our Company Van is Back on the Road! Our company van suffered a complete and devastating engine failure, which was a major blow to our daily operations. When faced with such a massive repair, you need absolute trust, and Halesowen Engines came highly recommended—not just by The AA, but by two separate local garages here in Kidderminster. From the very first phone call, the experience was outstanding. I spoke with Steve, who was an absolute professional: extremely knowledgeable, genuinely positive, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. They made clear promises on pricing and timelines, and I am absolutely thrilled to confirm that they delivered on every single one. The quality of work is clearly outstanding, and our van is running perfectly. We are extremely happy and grateful we were introduced to this company. Thank you so much, Steve, and everyone on the team for the excellent service—you truly do Halesowen Engines proud! A definite 5-star recommendation.

Friendly and efficient service. Called to get a Peugeot 206 head skimmed and they kindly collected the next day. Even better, they returned it the day after collecting, freshly skimmed and cleaned. Steve was great and made sure I got it back as soon as possible. Thank you.

Top class service from Halesown Engines. In need of an engine rebuild I had contacted several garages and after several lengthy conversations with John I decided to go with Halesowen Engines. Both John and Steve were extremely professional and helpful. Despite the pain of the expense it was a very good experience with this garage and I couldn't recommend them highly enough.
