My son’s VW Fox recently failed it’s MOT because of emissions issues, when checked with diagnostic tool it was showing a repeated misfire. I swapped ignition coil packs but the fault remained on the same cylinder, so we compression tested it and one cylinder was about 1/3 rd the other two. Reading Internet forums suggested this was a common fault for VW’s BMD engine that’s found in Foxes and Polos which is caused by burned exhaust valves. I tried numerous garages locally but no one was interested in replacing valves. One suggested buying an engine from eBay, but ultimately as this was a known problem I could have bought another one that would fail soon. People I found locally that could work on the cylinder head wouldn’t work on the engine in the car. Most suggested I scrap the car. Mark at Willenhall Engine Centre responded quickly to an email I sent with a price for them to do the entire job. Exchanged a few more messages, it became clear that they’d seen this problem multiple times, so we agreed when I could take the car in, they’re not local to me. When I arrived staff were friendly, knew that the car was expected. The trade counter / shop area was clean and tidy, staff in uniform. As stupid is it sounds the place smelled right – slight spell of machine oil. They needed the car for slightly longer than they originally said, but this wasn’t an issue as I’d originally said that it wasn’t urgent as my son’s away at Uni. When I collected the car it was cleaner than when it went in for the work, it had clearly been washed. Car is running correctly, nicer to drive, passed it’s MOT. When you look under the bonnet it’s clear that the cylinder head has been removed and cleaned, I can tell that bolts and gaskets have been replaced. I can’t comment on the longevity of the repairs as we’ve only just got the car back, but everything I’ve experienced from these people so far suggests that it’s a quality operation. There’s been a lot of work done on the engine and the price wasn’t cheap, however from what I’ve read on forums about how many hours work were needed I think it was a fair price for the work. This is clearly work that’s more skilled than changing brake pads. However, the cost of repairs was substantially less than buying a similar vehicle. Ultimately these people have allowed me to save a car that the majority would have seen scrapped. So in summary, great service, fair price but more importantly they have the skills to do the job that the majority wouldn’t touch. Based on what I’ve seen so far, I’d have no hesitation in going back.

Be very wary of this garage and their warranties! The previous owner spent thousands of pounds having an engine rebuild with this company but apparently not worth the paper it's written on! Having recently bought the vehicle it started smoking sporadically. I called the garage where the work was still under warranty but was told they weren't interested as I was a new owner! Surely the warranty is on the work carried out and not the owner!! Having now taken it to a reputable garage to be looked at, I've been told most of the pipework was not put back properly and is rubbing against the metal bodywork which very quickly would have caused issues and failed badly! Not recommended!

Fantastic service sorting an oil leak that led to engine failure. Clear and transparent with the problem and made the appropriate repair and over a year later our van is driving fine. Well worth the price which actually saved us £100's elsewhere as they are of course engine specialists so would absolutely recommend for any engine issues!

Wanted to thank the centre who I have used in past when I needed head gasket fixing. I rang them today about a noise coming from the car and they were able to take a look and get further investigation done at there sister garage in Darlaston the same day. I am so grateful and found everyone to be very helpful and polite. Would recommend them. Thanks again
