Looking at low reviews I was a bit worried when we signed up for this company to deal with our inheritance. But I can't fault them. We were contacted almost two years ago as they had traced us very quickly after a relative we knew nothing about had passed away. They explained that it could take around two years to settle everything due to there being a house to sell. Today I have received my share of the estate so it took slightly less than predicted. Becky who was dealing with our case was very good. Always responding to calls or emails very quickly. Always polite and helpful. The whole process was excellent. Thank you.

It's a pity I couldn't give no stars! They charge a lot of money for no updates over 22 months, when I phone up Joe Gadsby is either on his lunch, in a meeting or on annual leave! Ask for a return call and it doesn't happen! The last email my solicitor received he stated he would be in touch within the week and I'm still waiting. Would I recommend this company..........NO!

DAYLIGHT ROBBERY Beware using this company. They send out a contract for you to sign agreeing to pay 20% +VAT of the inheritance amount received, but what they don't say is that this is negotiable!!! My sister and I both signed these forms. They had done the search to find us through our late father, and we did inherit some money, but we were both charged the maximum fee. When I challenged Wesley that it was 1 search that found both of us and that he should have charged 1 fee, I was told that the fee could have been negotiated!! UNBELIEVABLE- take the money, THEN tell me that. DISGRACEFUL!

Estate research contacted me concerning a relative, we had lost in touch with. They asked me to sign a contract which would give them 20% of any of the remaining estate. You do have 14 days to cancel the contract, but the engagement can last for years as shown in other reviews. This is very high, when probate solicitors charge 1.5-2%. It's best to work with the Administrators of the estate itself, and not use this firm.

I was contacted by Ellis who wrote to me as a beneficiary. I came close to throwing it into the recycling but instead I called him to see if it was genuine. Based on the information I was able to provide, Ellis could confirm the family tree and this then enabled me to speak to a local probate solicitor to see if they had ever dealt with Estate Research. They had, and they spoke highly of them. What followed was a steady stream of information gathering and updates. Ellis was proactive and always happy to reply to my calls and emails. Within a few months the matter was complete and we are now significantly better off thanks to Ellis & his teams efforts. I can only review ER as a beneficiary and I would like to praise how good, professional and diligent they have been.

I would advise not to use this company. They never provide any updates as soon as they have got you to sign the forms and the timeframes are a joke. Even when you chase them for updates the replies are always that either the staff or solicitors are on annual leave so I’m not surprised the work never gets sorted!!

Initially contacted me several months ago got me to sign paperwork saying I was a relative of a gentleman.. I then waited for a reply. Didn't receive one so emailed back after 2 months to be told I was the wrong person they were looking for.. So unprofessional and ridiculous

I have to say so far my experience with this company has been very poor. I was contacted by them after finding out my mother had passed away last year. During the the initial exchanges and before I signed a contract they were very efficient in replying to emails and posting out the relevant forms. Sadly ever since I signed a contract to say they could handle my moms estate communication has been well below standard. Dealing with the knowledge my mom passed away and being estranged from my brother is incredibly stressful so I would expect a company dealing with such matters to respond to any enquiries promptly and with compassion. Unfortunately this has not been the case. On numerous occasions I have been fobbed off to other people who have no information and the last email I received over 2 months ago said this was now with our accounts department. I have no idea what that means. I notified them I had changed address but once again no information. This week I emailed them again and no information. I work with people who are going through or have experienced loss or grief and effective communication is so important. I will update this review with an outcome but quite simply to ignore peoples email requests in this day and age is not a great start.
