   AVOID AVOID AVOID Absolute mess. Wasted over a month of our lives. Went with them for buying our first home as it had gone well for others. Paid for the searches and took round the paperwork (albeit for some reason no one was there first time during their opening hours). Our solicitor was meant to be Andrew. We then heard nothing for weeks. Eventually we wanted an update but couldn't get through to Nicola or Andrew. Apparently Nicola had left the company and no one had checked for correspondence from the sellers. If we hadn't have rung then lord knows how long it would've been before someone bothered to check. Joanne said she would get in touch with the estate agents. When I asked the estate agents if she'd been in touch they said no. When I asked Joanne about it she said she'd emailed. Suddenly I found myself doing their jobs for them. We waited longer and after 5 weeks then searches we'd paid for hadn't even be started. I then got through to Stephen who said Andrew wasn't in and hadn't been for weeks. They didn't know where he was. He was incredibly blase about it all. How can a business be run like that? Your partner just doesn't show up to work for weeks and you don't think anything of it? I should emphasise that I only found out about this because I was ringing regularly. At no point has anyone from Bolton Jones bothered to get in touch with us. By demanding some sort of answer I was eventually told nothing had been done on our case and that they would likely cease trading. No idea what has happened there and I genuinely hope they're all alright but their complete lack of communication is disgraceful. The complacency when you eventually get through to someone is staggering given they're in control of your property purchase - hardly a small matter. The lack of contingency planning is scary. The answers were as though they thought "oh it's on someone else's email so don't know what you want me to do about it". Also, other reviewers are right about the office, an absolute mess of paper. The only positive I have to say is they refunded me on the same day I requested it.

   The only time I received a prompt response from Bolton Jones was when they were accepting £420 on account. Andrew sat on the file for weeks without progress. Whenever I called, he seemed completely unaware of the status of the case, was completely dismissive and blamed everyone else. When I raised reasonable queries, his response was dismissive — at one point telling me things were simply “self-explanatory.” His attitude was consistently rude, unhelpful, and uninterested. Requests for clarity were ignored, and any potential issues were either brushed off or not acknowledged at all. He did the bare minimum of sending standard copy and paste queries to the vendor, showed no initiative, and offered no guidance throughout the process. I pulled out of the purchase through my own research and due diligence, Andrew was not interested. Months late and despite repeated requests, I am yet to receive an itemised bill for the £420 I paid. I still have nothing to show for it. A truly disgraceful experience. Avoid using Andrew if you want even the most basic level of professionalism or support. You will lose money, miss out on a sale/purchase, and maybe, if pigs fly, you might complete 6+ months down the line. Andrew seems to have completely checked out of his profession and only interested in easy, bog standard, copy and paste jobs. Poor Nicola is left flapping away the disgruntled clients...

   Avoid for your own sanity and anyone else who is unfortunate enough to be involved. They sit on your case for months and months with no action or communication. Andrew is virtually impossible to contact. Whenever you try and call he's almost never in the office for some unknown reason. The other staff (if you can get ahold of them) will usually tell you he will be in "later" that day or "tomorrow", and that they will ask him to call you back. I don't think I ever received a call back. Moreover, the other staff are either just making stuff up or actually have no idea what is going on in their office - I was told he would be back in the office "tomorrow", but later it turns out he was on holiday for the week. Don't even bother trying to email them, you almost certainly won't get a response. I am unsure whether Nicola (Andrew's assistant) and the other staff are as culpable in the shoddy service I received or if Andrew simply ignored them like he ignored everyone else. I don't know what hours these people work, but it's not 9-5 and based on their work/contact hours, it's almost certainly a lot less. Credit where credit is due, on the day of completion everything did for the most part go smoothly.

   I have used Bolton Jones twice over the last 5 years. Firstly to purchase a house and more recently to sell a house. We chose Bolton Jones again to sell our house recently, as the overall service the first time we used them was first class. I have found their costs to be cheaper than most of their competitors without any compromise on service. All of my queries were answered promptly by either Andrew or Nicola and the most important point I could make on them is that you will certainly face no delays in the buying / selling process from Bolton Jones dealing with your file as they are very efficient. I have also recommended Bolton Jones to a few of my friends over the years, and their experience has always been positive too. I can only highly recommend their service to anyone.

   Used Andrew Tyl from Bolton Jones recently to complete my first house purchase. The house purchase was completed quickly (around 5 weeks) and without any issues. The only reason why I took one star off was because it was sometimes difficult to reach Andrew at the start. It became a lot easier when Nicola (Andrew’s assistant) got involved. Good value for money, and quick turnaround.
