   In fairness to a review below, the timeline was four years and included the pandemic period, so lots of volatility in markets. Despite that the portfolio still achieved its target return. It should be said we are a planning business designed to make capital work to meet a clients lifestyle objectives with an appropriate level of investment risk relevant to financial circumstances. If you just want out and out returns without any real understanding of risk, then it might be worth investing funds elsewhere. Our client satisfaction surveys are one of the highest ranked in the industry and we have been in the business for 50 years next year, so we must be doing something right.    Seemed ok at first but I believe I was wrongly advised to sell a good company pension scheme into a SIPP. I should state this advice cost me £1000+VAT. DB Wood annual charges to run this SIPP at the time came to 1.7%. As all money people do, they only care for their bottom line and not yours. I was concerned the SIPP was performing poorly and came across an article that said if you're paying more than 1% for your pension then you should really know what you're paying for. In my case it was a load of generic meaningless BS laser printed projected value graphs up to the age of 120 headed for recycling/landfill. When I told them I was going to take control of my own SIPP they had a sense of panic. I've been managing my own SIPP now for couple of years and I'd say average annual charge is under 0.4%. Maybe the DIY is not for everyone but as a seasoned stocks and shares ISA investor I felt confident enough to take on the SIPP. Update: It's been a few years (3?) since I decided to manage my SIPP myself but I've almost doubled it in value and taken the annual charges from 1.7% down to 0.15%. DO NOT LET THEM ROB YOU!!!
