It's been many years since I visited the park, greatly improved. The grounds were very well kept, gorgeous autumn colours. The museum was very good with very knowledgeable guides Really enjoyed it

A super museum focusing on Rotherham. Free entry with plenty of parking. A varied collection from stuffed animals - check out the lion to Rockingham pottery. All very well displayed in an amazing house. Small shop, cafe and toilets in the building. Also worth a visit is the park with many amenities. Staff friendly and chatty and happy to help.

A good day out looking at the gardens and museum. There's more to see than you might think. Friendly staff and excellent cakes in the café.

An excellent museum with a wide range of exhibits showing the many aspects of Rotherham and surrounding districts. The museum also has an archive section with a vast database of entries. For a well earned break there is a fully equipped café and souvenir shop. Clean and tidy toilets are nearby. Well worth a visit!

My family love visiting the museum and the park enclosed in the grounds, there's loads of interesting local history in the museum alongside giant oil painting of previous owners of the once upon a time estate, the park has lots of variety Including a sand pit with interactive play, a massive climbing g frame with huge slide, a zip wire, a smaller kiddy park for the under 8's and in the school holidays the rides are open, plus there's crazy golf, you can easily spend a full day in the park and museum, you can either bring a picnic or enjoy a snack in the museums cafe

Normally a great space but no current big exhibitions on other than 3 rooms dedicated to a consultation; kids were disappointed as they usually love the museum but loved/enjoyed the moth making workshops with Angie Hardwick and her space/exhibition. Also liked the Vintage computer games bit and the Elephant vases made with community.

A nice museum with friendly staff. They have a number of temporary exhibitions upstairs. The 3 current ones are curated by members of staff who work at the museum who have brought in their own items and chosen items from the museum collection to fit their chosen personal theme. The building itself has some interesting features inside including the original floors which are made of stone that have fossils in and a floating staircase which was modified in the Victorian period with reinforcements. The famous Nelson lion is also there, thought to be one of the lions that may have provided inspiration for the stone lions in Trafalgar Square (he was a resident of London Zoo at the time the stone was carved hence being named Nelson). I was pleased to learn he had died of old age and was not killed to be taxidermied.
