Truly excellent little local place, relaxed friendly atmosphere, everything is authentic and homemade, fantastic ingredients, quality stuff! I had kedgeree followed by clootie dumpling and both were outstanding - no mean feat! It's popular with the locals, so booking recommended.

Cafe 28 has become one of our regular weekend stops. As well as the usual favourites on the menu, they always have some lovely specials on offer. Firm favourites are eggs benedict, the Sunday Roast and the lemon and lime cheesecake. No matter what we order the food is always fresh and delicious, service is always super friendly and efficient. Consistently great food from a great team.
Always love coming here. The food is so good, the service excellent and it's a lovely spot to be. The Sunday roast in particular is worth a try. Definitely book a table though! They also have a great selection of sweet treats and bread, jams etc.
Second time visiting this wee hidden gem. Would say it’s more a fine dining restaurant than a cafe. The atmosphere is so welcoming you feel like you’re at your friends for dinner. So warm and friendly. The food is just beautiful. The roast was our choice of the day and was fresh and plentiful and made my daughter do a wee happy dance :).
Got a voucher as a gift for here - wasn't sure what to expect, but I was definitely not dissapointed The food was amazing and all staff were extremely friendly. The owner came over to talk to us which we thought was so nice. We cannot recommend this place enough and ended up buying family members gift vouchers! Cannot wait to visit again!
Amazing Sunday lunch here today. Food is excellent and made to order, with great desserts too. Staff are all so friendly and spend time with customers, making us feel so welcome. A perfect Cafe to meet friends. We will be back, again!
Great breakfast this morning. Was waiting on a relative at Minklands Hospital and found this fabulous wee cafe on a Google search. Will definitely return. Great breakfast, lunch and snack menu with lots of freshly made meals and home baking. Staff were so friendly and helpful. A wee gem of a find in a rather unusual neighbourhood. Good street parking available.
Food was superb, carrot and coriander soup was outstanding! Brisket amazing! Service was top notch worth the wait!
This is a hidden gem. The food is absolutely top class and reasonably priced too. Everything is freshly cooked and full of flavour. We had the Eggs Twenty Eight. The muffin was fresh and crispy, the avocado and salmon delicious, the poached eggs perfect and the hollandaise sauce to die for. We'll definitely be back!! Best to book in advance as it's very popular.
