I was a member of David Lloyd Speke for almost 10 years (joined in 2016). Unfortunately, this experience has shown that long-standing members are treated as low priority, with money clearly taking precedence. The sauna and steam room, included when I joined, were permanently removed. The only way to access similar facilities was to upgrade to a much more expensive Platinum membership. No fair reduction in fees was offered to reflect the loss — just an upsell. When I accepted the club’s offer of immediate cancellation, it turned out my membership was instead left running until the end of the year, requiring further chasing to actually cancel. Throughout, management focused on contractual clauses rather than addressing the loss of facilities or member loyalty. After nearly a decade of paying membership fees, the only “goodwill” offered was to leave. I would strongly caution anyone considering joining: facilities can be removed, and long-term members may not be valued.

I never thought I would look forward to going the gym but David Lloyd has changed my mindset. On my recent visit I was there for 5 hours, starting with a game of tennis and then badminton, all equipment provided were excellent quality. Then on to a swim in the heated outdoor pool which was so refreshing (albeit a bit chilly) and then I warmed up with a swim in the indoor pool. Then on to the highlight of the day the spa, wow it is like being in a 5 star hotel. A great variety of steam rooms, saunas and jacuzzis both indoor and outdoor. Ended our fantastic visit with food and drinks in the club room, they have a licensed bar and the food was great quality. All staff were friendly. I love being a member here and would highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of joining it elevates your gym experience and will motivate you to exercise more. I just realised we didn’t even make it to the Actual gym area :)

I’ve recently been to the pool - I’ve had the best encounter with one of the lifeguards, Charlotte I believe her name was. She was so kind, knowledgable and extremely funny. It was a shame that I encountered a different lifeguard few days later, I hope all staff are trained in a similar manner and people like Charlotte are recognised for their excellent manners and intellect.

They have ruined this place with the upgrades. People now come for the spa, which is always busy. Car park is now always full. They have shown 0 loyalty. I've been a member 15 years and get nothing but the same package new members get. I pay 60% more than I did 5 years ago for less than I got 5 years ago. Since the upgrade I no longer have access to a sauna, a jacuzzi, and other facilities as they have been moved into the 'spa', which requires a higher tier membership. The upgrade has been nothing but a downgrade for me.

Great facilities and a huge wealth of classes to choose from. Tennis courts are great, and the squash court is also fantastic. Would definitely recommend if you're around in South Liverpool!

I come here as a guest on my husband's pass once a month so we can gym together and everytime I honestly feel sorry for him the amount he's paying for what you get. OK there is a pool, but the gym facilities are just the same as any other gym I've been to, nothing special. The problem is it seems to be more of a social club for kids and posers and it's always over crowded. People must feel entitled in there as no one puts their weights away after use and everything seems to be falling apart a little, either way surely there should be someone on the gym floor sorting that and cleaning up throughout the day. They even closed the outdoor pool over winter, one of the only reasons he joined to save on heating costs. When people complained they opened it again but raised the monthly price even more. DL can keep their £85 quid or more a month...I'd rather go with the humble £25 a month JD gym thanks! :)

I have been to many David Lloyd gyms in the country and I can honestly say that this particular David Lloyd is number one for service especially in the restaurant (lovely food), attention to detail and overall customer care. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. I always look forward to spending time in this place.

I’m a member at this gym and can’t wait for my membership to end this December. The only thing I will miss is the fact that my son loves doing his swimming lessons here. The majority of staff are not trained and clearly hate their job. I’ve had an issue with a payment DL has owed me since the summer holidays that still hasn’t been resolved and for the price you pay, the facilities are not worth it. I’ve been to other David Lloyds and they are unreal! This one is a joke.
