   I chose to support a local small business by using this pharmacy, and I went in with my prescription explaining, more than once, that I absolutely needed it by the next day. I’m pregnant after IVF, a high-risk pregnancy, and this medication is vital for my baby’s well-being. I was repeatedly reassured that everything would be taken care of and that I didn’t need to worry. When I returned the following day, not only was my prescription not ready, but the wrong medication had been ordered. I was stunned. This wasn’t just an inconvenience, this was negligence that could have directly affected my baby’s health. The stress and panic this caused were the last things I should be experiencing in a high-risk pregnancy. I will never set foot in that pharmacy again. I ended up frantically driving to four different pharmacies before finally finding the correct medication elsewhere, but that’s not the point. The level of incompetence I encountered was unbelievable and completely unacceptable. Avoid!

   Came here to pick up my prescription which was my first time since having a baby. The lady asked me if I usually paid I said yes but I’m pretty sure that if you’ve had a baby in the last 12 months it should be free. The lady laughed at me and told me that I’m 28 I have to pay for my prescription my child doesn’t pay but I do. I quickly checked it online and I was correct I don’t have to pay. One of the reasons on the form for not paying is providing a maternity exemption certificate. This member of staff was very rude and tried to ridicule me in front of other customers. Also, who knows how many people have been paying when their prescription should in fact be free!

   My local pharmacy, was a place I took for granted for the first 20 years at my current address: and then my husband was diagnosed with a degenerative illness, and suddenly we were plunged into a world of prescriptions for a growing list of medicines at varying dosages; The staff at the Haydons Road Pharmacy have been excellent at ordering what we need; liaising with our Practice nurses, discussing side-effects, taking back unused medicines. They show compassion for my husband and they also keep an eye on me as his carer: always a friendly chat, a shoulder to cry on or a respite cuppa: nothing is too much trouble for this independent pharmacy; for me they have become an Essential Service.

   I’ve recently had a lot of issues with my usual pharmacy so found it necessary to shop around for a particular medication (control drug) that my usual pharmacy claimed not to be able to get. I spoke to a wonderful gentleman and explained what I needed and asked if he could help. He told me he would order the medication but to ring back four hours later at 4pm just to confirm he had it. Now, my usual pharmacy had this prescription for a week, and couldn’t get this important medication, yet this wonderful gentleman had it in hand when I rang a few hours later. But it wasn’t just the availability, it was also how he handled my request and just how helpful and lovely he was. As I’ve had ongoing issues with my local pharmacy, both my mum and I have decided to switch to Haydons Pharmacy as they also do deliveries (I’m disabled so this is necessary). Absolutely wonderful, I couldn’t recommend them enough!

   Have been going here for years. Yet over the last year the service has deteriorated. I have my prescription renewed automatically, but somehow, it's never at the pharmacy. Everytime it's late. Then, trying to get an emergency supply of tablets they really don't want to help you. Only one member of staff there is helpful and that's why it gained a single star.
