I had wonderful service at John Bell and Croyden from a lovely lady Rubina and I think she is one of the managers. She was incredibly polite, and helpful. I normally feel a bit hounded by skincare consultants in there, but she was completely different. She asked all the right questions rather than pushing a brand. Real skincare expertise. Her approach made my visit so much more enjoyable. A real credit to the store

Unacceptable Service and False Advertising My approx 1pm visit today was appalling. It was nearly impossible to find staff willing to help; the lack of visible name badges made identifying who actually worked there when walking the shop floor extremely difficult. I eventually had to interrupt a conversation between two employees, one of whom was Manager ‘Maria S’, who seemed more interested in chatting than assisting customers. The main issue occurred at checkout with the other lady who had been chatting with Maria (who did not wear a name badge). She tried to overcharge me. When I alerted her to the correct shelf price, she was completely unsurprised and flatly refused to verify the price or call a manager, insisting I find Maria myself. She was rude and unhelpful, and eventually told me to move so she could serve others. When I asked her name, she refused, claiming I was 'picking on her.' Frankly, the cashier is clearly not equipped to handle customer issues or engage in basic problem-solving. I finally tracked down Maria after waiting for her to finish with another customer. When she processed the correction, she was shockingly unconcerned, stating that pricing errors 'always happen' because 'the stickers are wrong' due to brands not informing the store of price changes. The store's acceptance of this blatant false advertising is completely unacceptable. After years of shopping here, I will not return.

I use this pharmacy regularly - my medication is always in stock compared to other places, and the majority of pharmacy/prescription area staff are so kind. Staff in the left hand side of the store (vitamin, mobility aid, etc) are also super friendly and helpful, especially the young ladies in the vitamin area! HOWEVER on the right hand side of the store is a whole other story. I go in looking for one item, and i have members of staff hound me to buy £800+ of products, I assume from the brands they are ambassadors for. It's incredibly intimidating when you know what you want and from which brand, and staff are relentlessly telling you that your skin needs way more, its actually insulting. I then have had another lady be incredibly rude to me, after I apologised for not buying anything she'd hounded me with, she said "its fine we arent busy today, but dont do this on a busy day"... she was the one that wouldnt leave me alone to buy my moisturiser! Very clearly the staff target anyone wearing a nice bag, expensive clothing etc as I see this happen to others. The majority of us just want to shop in peace - we will ask for help if we need it, but after saying "its okay I'll try something else" I dont expect to be followed around the department being told I need £500 face cream. Awful shame that the right hand side of the store ruins the general experience. Glad theres a door that avoids the area completely. PLEASE teach your staff some manners.

Really beautiful and had a great range of products but the sales associates are incredibly aggressive. In less than five minutes of being in the store, we were approached by four different people who all pushed hard and did not pick up the “ok thank you we will let you know if we need anything” it was really overwhelming and unpleasant because we had to feign politeness. I work retail, good salespeople know when to leave the customers alone. I say this in the spirit of improvement and feedback. All the people were polite and friendly, but way too pushy and we regretted going in.

Poor shopping experience. The supplement section has many wrongly priced items. You only find out the correct price once you go to the till. Customer service don’t seem bothered about these mistakes just shrugged their shoulders. This product is labelled for £19 pounds but was told it’s £45 when I went to pay at the till.

All the gear no idea Went to pick up simple prescription. Handed it over and was told to wait and see if they had. There were about 15 staff behind the counter. I couldn’t really tell what all of them bar one was doing. 15 minutes by, I asked again if they had my prescription. Took another 10 minutes for my prescription to come out and then was left on the counter as all the toll staff decided to strike. Then had to kindly ask again if I could pay for my prescription. The man didn’t say one word, not even look at me in the eyes. Lovely experience guys!

I was really impressed with the service. Got my order through really quickly and it was properly packaged. I ordered from other place before and the little boxes were flattened by the time they arrived as the packaging wasn’t adequate. Definitely buy from this seller again.

John Bell & Croyden are my go to for anything pharmacy related, including beauty products. Their service is second to none, prices are good and delivery is excellent. I buy from them mostly via their web site, but if I'm in the area and need anything, I'll go out of my way to see them. I never hesitate in recommending them.

A terrible experience. Booked a Covid booster - and a sales person called at 1pm, and was clearly annoyed, and asked if I am coming. I apologised and said I am almost there. I practically run there and was panicking - hence got a bit lost - and when I arrived I was told they are on their break from 1-2pm. The horrible person that picked up the phone - unprofessional, bitter and clearly cruel - decided to punish me, it seems, for being a few minutes late, by not telling me they will not be there when I arrive. After shielding for almost 2 years and with two life threatening health conditions - making the decision to go in the first place was a huge deal. I ended up in tears, and having to leave, as I could not wait for 1h for them to come back, as I had another hospital appointment. The only human and humane person was the security guard, who offered explanation and tissues. This sort of callous cruel and highly unprofessional treatment of customers will not be forgotten, and I am in the process of taking further action to make sure their manager Amanda - and for all I know perhaps it was her who picked up the phone - faces the consequences. I got unwell that same afternoon, from the stress, rushing after their call and the anxiety caused by the treatment (or rather no treatment) I received, and have been seriously ill since than - for two weeks. Disgusting, no other words to describe it, and still trying to find out who the person was - as her agenda was clearly to CAUSE me HARM. And she very much did.

Very big, clean and tidy shop but customer service is terrible. Nobody helps you despite having lots of people behind the counter. When you approach them after you cannot find the product for a while they are even worse. They don’t offer any help, they dont know if they have the product they ask you to go yourself to have a look at the shelves.
